Finntroll, Ensiferum, Nightwish, Kamelot, Norther, Children of Bodom(early), Bathory, Hel, Suidakra, and numerous other bands. Hard to nail it down but we were inspired by Finntroll and Ensiferum initially when we started and worked on the project and we listen to lots of black metal folk metal power metal death metal and anything we feel like.
In Early March the Band White Frost was created. The sound was inspired by bands like Finntroll and underground black metal as well as folk metal bands such as Ensiferum, and Turisas. When our first track was created it was dubbed Beyond the Veil of Midgard. The song underwent many evolutions and the band finally changed its name to Skogs Hallen which translates from Swedish into The Forest Hall. This name was inspired by the idea of drunken vikings running off into the woods to drink party and set things on ablaze. We felt this was the best way to represent these Dark Age Scandinavian pirates. We use this platform as a jumping off point to explore dark age themes and other mystical and mythological themes as well as some based on war and death. Overall a nice jolly mix of folk and metal.
The idea behind our sound is thrashy folk tunes with a strong melody and they are currently being run and produced independently by Solstafirian with his band mates. The band is hoping to book gigs in the future but the lack of a full time drummer has left us without the ability to play live. To audition for the position of drummer contact our band page right here. You must be able to play blast beats and double bass and have your own drum kit. Being local also helps alot but being in the surrounding cities is just as good.
We support our heathen friendly photographer Molly at Mjolnir productions. great work and great prices, check her out and support her too.

Thanks again for adding me, guys. I love finding really good music on a low-traffic page -- it's almost like finding a Picasso at a garage sale. I hope you'll visit my page to check out "Killing Time in Tokyonesia" and some of my other songs. I'm hoping to release my first CD soon. Keep up the good work and take care always.
It will always be one of my favorite Skogs tracks, I remember when you wrote it. It may be the "MacBeth" of Skogs Hallen but I think that the songs that take the longest to perfect often are the best.
