Influences
The melodies the trees sing to the wind. The tunes birds sing to the sun and the rain. The melodies humans write to explain to ourselves why we´re living.
Influences? Paganus would rather see it as sources of inspiration. Skyclad is an example of a band that we do'nt sound like at all but have ben a great inspiration thrue the years. Other inspiring acts have ben the Scandinavian folk bands Väsen, Frifot and Stinnerboms Harv, Urban Turban and Gåte. When it comes to rock you obviously can hear that we have ben very into bands like November, Pugh Rogefeldt, Prudence, Folque, Träd Gräs och Stenar, Kebnekajse, Dungen, The Clan Destined, Anna Ternheim, Villebrad, Folkearth, Cruachan, Tuatha de Danann and many others. Paganus is really a folk rock band and other band in this genre has obviously meant a lot to us: Fairport Convention, Jethro Tull, Roddy Woomble, Lucky Luke, Ethan and the Ewox, Black Widow, Änglagård, Led Zeppelin, Manning Guy, Mezquita, Comus, Strawbs, Mostly Autumn, Phoenix, the Pentangle, Steeleye Span, Horselips, Albion Danceband, Dando Shaft. Paganus also listen a lot to Norwegian bans like Mungolian Jet Set, Adjagas, Glittertind, Audrey Horne, Lumsk and many others.
Sounds Like
We have ben given our very own brand by the media: Forest Rock. It all started with our local newspaper Säffletidningen who, when writing about our first ep, wrote "Paganus plays wild forest-rock". Well, we guess this was catchy enough co's since then everyone have ben using the term forest-rock when referring to Paganus. Therefore we also decided to ride the wave and name our first full-length "Skogsrock" (swedish for Forest Rock).
So what does forest rockers sound like? Well we hope you can hear the giant trees, the rocks covered in moss and small eternal forest lakes, but to give you a not quite so wooly description: We think you can find a great deal of Led Zeppelin, November, Harv, Môra Per, Gåte, Urban Turban, Kebnekajse, Levellers, Skyclad, Jethro Tull, Pugh Rogefeldt, Prudence, Folque, Träd Gräs och Stenar, Dungen, The Clan Destined, Anna Ternheim, Villebrad, Folkearth, Cruachan, Tuatha de Danann, Fairport Convention, Roddy Woomble, Lucky Luke, Ethan and the Ewox, Black Widow, Lumsk, Glittertind, Manning Guy, Mezquita, Comus, Strawbs, Mostly Autumn, Phoenix, the Pentangle, Steeleye Span, Horselips, Albion Danceband, Dando Shaft and Änglagård in there.

Om vi inte åter igen börjar lyssna på Naturens ordlösa röst och ännu en gång vågar lita på att det som är grönt, gott och enkelt också är rätt…

Vad var då meningen med alla våra så kallade framsteg?
För första gången i historien har vi skapat en situation där vi riskerar att utplåna oss själva.
Men för första gången i historien har vi också, om vi väljer att gå på rätt stig, möjligheten att leva i balans med varandra och vår omgivning.
Det är ett oerhört viktigt klimatmöte i Köpenhamn 7 – 18 december.

So why do we think we're needed. Is there really need for moore music in this world almost contaminated with catchy tunes?
We're needed because there are too few who sing in Swedish; because everyone is obsessing with Stockholm, who in turn obsess with London, New York and Paris. We're needed to give a voice to forests, bark, grass, river and bog; to give a voice to the things beyond everything plastic, without for that matter rub shoulders with politics.

Jeg ville absolutt satsa på "Spela för mig". Spennende instrumental i begynnelsen som pirrer nysjerigheten, et refreng som sitter i øret og en melodi som bygger seg opp hele veien. Et klart førstevalg for meg ihvertfall.

Takk for tilliten. To spennende låter. Jeg er enig i at den første låten, Atlantis, ikke ligner så mye på de "gamle" låtene, men når det gjelder "en ny väg" ville jeg nok gjettet på Paganus dersom jeg hadde hørt den uten å vite hvem som spilte. Uansett to spennende låter og jeg gleder meg til å høre resten av skiva etterhvert. ha en fortsatt fin dag.
