Skrå is modern folk music from the Åland archipelago.

On Åland, an island between Finland and Sweden, Skrå formed as a band five years ago. Two violinists with Nordic folk music ringing in their heads met two musicians from the ‘other’ side, the rock music. The joy of playing together rolled along directly. Arrangements of medieval ballads developed to own material and today basically all music is written by the members. And the joy of playing together is still there.
2005 Skrå released their first album, the self entitled “Skrå”, recorded in the drummer’s bedroom. The album’s formation and the marketing afterwards was a true experience. 2006 Skrå attended the Åland music competition “Musik.ax” and took the first price, a recording in Lundgaard studios, Denmark. The result is called “Bitar” and was released by Tutl records in august 2007. “Bitar” became well received by the audience and press, and was followed by an extensive festival tour in the Nordic countries. Since the start Skrå has performed nearly 100 concerts; on the Åland islands, on the Faroe Islands, in Finland, in Sweden, in Norway, in Russia…
