Mostly I play solo. However, Jerry Rockwell (www.jcrmusic.com) plays on all of my albums to a greater or lesser extent, and I occasionally play with him live.
Influences
Jerry Rockwell, Neal Helman, Lois Hornbostle, Bob Force and Al d'Ossche, John Dowland, Randy Wilkinson, The Beatles, Eric Clapton, Cat Stevens, Johann Sebastian Bach, Dan Fogelberg, The Who, Pachelbel, Joan Baez, Jean Ritchie, Led Zeplin, Richard Farina, Emerson Lake and Palmer, America (the Band), America (the country), America (the two continents) and Lucas Schmidt, the guy who lived next door while I was in college and had a suitcase full of songs he'd wrote and would share them at any excuse.
Sounds Like
Sort of like if Dan Fogelberg played dulcimer instead of the guitar and didn't sing.
I am a player of the Mountain Dulcimer who has been learning, composing, performing and teaching since 1983. Although the Mountain Dulcimer is mostly thought of as an appalachian folk instrument, I go farther afield for my music. In addition to the traditional repertoire I play music from the European classical tradition, Celtic and British Isles tunes, jazz, blues, and the occasional pop tune. I'm not so much a "dulcimer player" as an instrumentalist who plays the mountain dulcimer. Much of my music is self composed or improvised, and these tunes are featured heavily on the four albums I've published.
Hey Steve - thanks for adding me here - holidays were wonderful, hope yours were fantastic as well! Looking forward to seeing you sometime in 2009. Peace, joy and Happy New Year to you and your family!
