WHAT'S SO SPECIAL ABOUT SKULL STRINGS?

Conceived especially for guitarists who demand a lot from their instruments, their tension remains balanced ESPECIALLY when you play in DROP-TUNING, thus keeping the neck from getting warped. Their unique winding on a hex core, provides great tone, exceptional brightness and incredible bottom end. The alloy is long lasting and gives powerful volume. The loudest you can get at these gauges. The introduction of the SKULL STRINGS® on the market was so successful that metal players wanted the same strings but with gauges for normal tuning. Thats why the STANDARD line was born. With ou bass strings, the stainless steel alloy wrap wire on a hex core provides the longest lasting brightness on the market & in the 5 string set, the .135 bottom 'B' string has an exposed core over the saddle. This particularity gives to this string more flexibility and sustain, and something even more important, a better consistency in tune as there is less mass in contact with the bridge. This helps to approach the point of perfect tune according to the neck length.

STAINLESS STEEL PROPERTIES.

With a minimum of 17% content in chromium and low carbon content, the ferritic stainless steel is constantly protected by a passive layer of chromium oxide, which forms on the surface as a result of the contact between the chromium and the humidity in the air. Once this layer deteriorates, it regenerates itself by the same process. This specificity makes our strings so resistant to corrosion and oxidation. The many unique values provided by stainless steel make it a powerful candidate in materials selection. Engineers and designers often underestimate or overlook these values because of what is viewed as the higher initial cost of stainless steel. However, over the total life of a string, stainless steel is often the best value option.
