Jon thumps his tubs like the animal he is - Grrr! Lovely kit but needs his own van to put it in.... Al plays the most sensuous bass guitar and owns the heaviest speaker cab (we have the injuries to prove it...). Joe plays acoustic and electric guitars and sings - he tried all 3 at once one evening and is now know privately as Gladys. Gary is too loud on lead and sings with gusto - look out for stray tonsils. We also have regular help from Cath and Laura who deserve a special mention. Our van is called either "our van" or "that Bloody rust bucket" depending on its mood at the time.
Influences
We play a very broad range of material, im hoping to upload a songlist to the site as there is too much to mention.
Hi folks. Welcome to the new SKYBUS site. We thought it was time to relieve our friend Gary Yule of the responsibility of managing the web site. Gary set it up for us about 5 years ago and has looked after it since but needs his time back. A big thanks from the band for that mate.
This site gives the opportunity for us post a regular on-line diary so we can keep everyone up to date, including ourselves cos we only see each other at gigs and rehearsals.... "Oi, we're supposed to be on stage in a minute........" etc. Ok, not really, but it does mean we can say hi to some of our regulars who support us so much .... in the pub between sets isn't always the best time to talk - we really appreciate your support you know.
Blog duties will prob be shared between myself and Joe for the time being. Joe set this all up a week or so ago and all tech inquiries will go to him cos I ain't got a clue....
For those who don't know us too well..
We are a 4 piece band from the Isle of Wight, a part of England that mostly believes itself to be completely independant from it. We've been with this line-up since 2003 and haven't had a chance to draw breath since. We're very attractive and regularly draw gasps of delight from the ladies. We play so much material it's hard to know where to start, but if you see us in the pubs we tend to go for the rockier stuff, currently inc. Bon Jovi, T. Rex, Frattellis, Snow patrol, Cheap Trick, AC/DC, Green Day or a bit lighter with Keane, Beatles, Bruce Springsteen, . Clubs, weddings and any events can be tailored to the audience - anything from the 50's to now really, Played properly and with a bit of oomph. It's only rock and roll but we like it.....
The event list should give you all the info you need. There's a few new venues to try this year, with a couple of good nights recently at the Broadway in Totland and one at the Railway in Ryde - hopefully we'll be back there in the not too distant future.
Time for me to indulge my rock and roll lifestyle and put the kettle on... Stay tuned and say Hi if you catch up with us. Ciao for now...
