Skye Dent, a 2007 Tisch School Of The Arts grad student, is the daughter of a Central American homemaker and a Black/Native American railroad cook who fell in love in the French Quarters of New Orleans.

After taking a two-year hiatus to obtain her MFA, Skye recently returned to Hollywood to both teach as a college professor, and continue writing and producing her entertainment projects. Currently working at the ABC hit hour-long drama, Dirty Sexy Money, Skye also has developed two series, a hip, sassy, dramatic comedy called Oyster Times and a police drama called Back Bay.

She recently finished a romantic comedy screenplay and a sci-fi film noir screenplay. She is co-creating/writing a video game for the National Institutes of Health.

Of particular note, she is producing-writing the remake of A Warm December, a feature film that Sidney Poitier directed, produced, and starred in. A-list actor Dennis Haysbert has tentatively agreed to star in the title role created for Mr. Poitier as part of his 1970s First Artists deal with Warner Brothers.

Skye began her professional career as a full-time journalist for both the print and broadcast media. She was a staff writer for The Associated Press in Boston, The Cape Cod Times, and Root Magazine in London.

Subsequently, Skye ventured into broadcast journalism by writing for CBS Evening News in New York City. Skye made her entrance into entertainment writing by relocating to California to be a year-long Walt Disney Screenwriting Fellow.

She obtained her first credited writing job when she wrote the fourth episode of the first season of the UPN hit, "Star Trek: Voyager" (1995) and created the alien race, the Vidiens. During the 1997-98 season, Skye was a staff writer for "The Burning Zone" (1996), an hour-long dramatic series produced by Universal Television and sold the firefighting suspense film Searing Notes to Touchstone.

In 1999, she wrote the movie Maestro for Showtime. Hearst Entertainment has optioned an original television movie of the week. Her screenplays include a supernatural suspense called Aftermath (based on her novel of the same title) and a father-son, auto-racing action drama called The Brickyard.

She has also written-produced five documentaries for The Discovery Channel and AMC. These include Phobias, Baffin Island, Universal Studios, and Fireflash. She's written-directed 12 commercials for The Discovery Channel and Paramount Studios, written numerous screenplays and produced the 2001 short action film, 'Rogue', directed by Hungarian director Tamas Harangi.

Skye maintains her print journalism status by continuing to write as a correspondent for the prestigious Boston Globe newspaper and various other publications. And she teaches both TV/Film/Documentary writing and journalism as an adjunct professor at College of the Canyons and National University.
