Following a life's dream is a pressing issue to me and to several people close to me. I am amazed
by the idea of how some people feel an overwhelming internal
push to accomplish something specific life/career-wise
almost like a calling. I wanted to take a closer look at where
some dreamers think their dreams come from and what keeps
them going, etc. I will be talking to a first-generation Italian/
American starting a family-run winery in Northern California, a music producer from Nigeria currently
making strides in his career in Los Angeles, a
financial investor turned-screenwriter/producer, and several more interesting and passionate
people.
I will also be talking with several dreamers who have made it
as they look back and talk about their particular journeys and
what kept them going. All of the people that appear on-camera are people that I have either met and
had the pleasure of working with while on my path towards MY DREAM
and share an understanding of and pursuit of their life's
purpose through their work.
One aspect that will be incorporated into the
documentary is a broader, more historical look at this idea of
individuals following a dream, or a "calling", and how that has
affected the world around them. I will be involving the
teachings of Joseph Campbell (The Power of Myth) to take a
deeper look into the concepts of creativity, mythology and
humanity as they relate to individuals following their bliss.
I feel this information would be an invaluable
aspect to the piece and would potentially reach whole new
audience with these ancient and universal teachings.

Jerry's dream is to create an Italian-inspired and family-run
winery. His
sister, Marianna, has published La Bella Molisana, an
Italian
cookbook of their family's recipes.
Jerry has
stuck it
out, worked hard, and continued to believe in his dream no
matter what. His positive outlook, incredible work ethic, and
his
ability to laugh when crazy things happen (which they always
do!), is, in my opinion, the key to his current and future
successes. Jerry's a great guy and I can't wait
to capture his insights!
We will
launch production of "I Have Dreams, Dammit!" at his beautiful
winery. (Hey, I'm no dummy!) He and I will chat about the
pursuit of dreams while we endulge ourselves in his
family's
wine on his beautiful property. The front doors to his winery
building are pictured here. And, this place isn't done yet!

"I Have Dreams Dammit!" is a documentary about the pursuit of a dream. I wanted to take the sappy, unreal, over-marketed idea of following a dream and present it in a REAL light. It's hard, it sucks, it's funny, it'll make you cry, it'll make you scream, and it'll almost kill you. BUT... people with a dream - people with a real, soul-wrentching dream - couldn't live the alternative. (NOT following their dream.) Why? What keeps them going? Where is this "dream" coming from?
I invite you to get involved a little or a lot. Independent filmmaking depends on winning that damn lottery, having rich friends or family that love to blow money on the filmmaker, or...just average people doing what they can because it all adds up! Even just forwarding an e-mail to someone is HUGE to the project. Someone might know someone who knows someone. I love that about the internet! It's eaiser than ever to spread the word!
