So, how did this all come about? Well, it all started some years ago when I was walking home from school, past the local prison, and a man called "Dave" suddenly jumped out in front of me and offered me a guitar on the understanding that I pass a message on to "Molly" saying: "Don’t bother visiting this weekend". I immediately put this new instrument to good use, but a few months later I was told that it was not intended to be used as a large cricket bat. I thought about this and then I started to develop some skill with it. Two years later I was advised that it works even better if you put some strings on it, and this was a revelation! Within a short space of time I created something which I call "music". I was a quick learner and almost immediately began playing by ear, which gave rise to my most famous quote at the time: "I hope to be able to use my hands in the near future because that’s how others seem to do it". My skill at picking things up quickly was obviously highly developed by that stage, and the rest, as they say, is history. Anyway, joking aside, you have probably realised that the songs deal with themes of a more serious nature. The reason for this can be traced back to the first song I ever wrote. I’d never really thought about writing songs but by pure accident I happened to come up with an idea and decided to turn it into a song - I was happy with the tune and the lyrics were just casually written to fit in with the tune therefore they had no substance to them but they worked with the song. When I eventually plucked up the courage to play the song to a friend he liked the music but criticised me for coming up with "rubbish" lyrics which served no purpose! I was just happy to have been able to put a song together in the first place! But as I thought about it I realised that he might have a point because isn’t music also about imparting a message and saying something which gives us cause to reflect and to think? Hopefully I have achieved that to some extent. Anyway, time to stop or I’ll only start to bore you - as Ted Striker would say! (Hope you’re all fans of the movie Airplane!)
