Slacktone is widely recognized as America's best surf instrumental band. Their sound is a hyper-kinetic mix of melody, speed and jaw dropping technical skill. Formed in Los Angeles in 1995 from a group of surf band veterans, they have since released four albums and toured Europe six times. Slacktone's music is featured in TV shows like the WB's Summerland, MTV Real People, Fox Sports Network, Boardwild, and they were the house band for the MTV's "Rock N Jock Superbowl Party". They wrote and produced music for 5 Slim Jim extreme sports commercials, and also worked with Subaru for the release of their new sports vehicle, Baja. They have played at numerous outdoor sporting events including the US Open and OP Pro surfing events, NORBA mountain bike races, and several snowboarding events.
Guitarist and songwriter Dave Wronski is a career studio musician and has been featured in Guitar Player magazine. Drummer Dusty Watson has played with Dick Dale, The Supersuckers and is now touring with Agent Orange . Sam Bolle on bass has played with Agent Orange and now tours with Dick Dale.
"Oh, man!!! Stellar material from very together players. The writing is really good, from straight ahead surf rants to amazing jazz excursion all reverbed out. Some tracks are entirely unique - unlike anything you've ever heard before. Dave Wronski's sense of riff is unique. His writing is immediately identifiable, yet always fresh. This is the mark of a great writer. Brilliant guitaristry supported by the trademark excellence of the best rhythm section in surf music." - Phil Dirt
Greetings Slacktone ... Thanks for the Add... Resistance is useless!
After a long journey from our home planet in the distant Omega Centauri Galaxy, The Del Sonics have arrived on Planet Earth to embark on their "World Domination Imminent" tour! Commencing in Brisbane, Australia, the run of dates will continue until total global power is achieved. The latest and most potent weapon in our arsenal is our new album release “Destination...Planet Rock!”. Eight rolled-gold total psych-out cuts, recorded in May 2009, showcase the cream of this intergalactic instro/prog/surf outfit.
Don’t be fooled by the wiggy song names – “(No One Likes A) Smart Arsed Robot”, “Funky Chikisho”, and the epic acid-trip of “Speak Cyborg…Or DIE!” – these are killer rock and roll tracks delivered by a band that’s been a sensation on the live circuit the past year.
The engine-room rhythm section of The Big Kahuna (bass) and Krank Daddy (drums) powers like the Starship Enterprise on steroids. Out the front directing traffic on Fender Mustang (and with NASA-grade guitar pedal technology at his feet) is Twang, the one-man tsunami!
Sounds like… hmmmm...The Ramones and The Ventures hanging out at Frank Zappa's beach house with John Coltrane, Jimi Hendrix and The Monkees. Later, Ritchie Blackmore and The Ronettes will drop in for fondue and bikini Twister!
It's surf music, Jim, but not as we know it........
