Early Days..
..
Born & raised in Pittsburg,
CA. Slammin’ Sam began mixing at 12 with the mix-match fisher price turntables
and Realisic mixer. Began djing at various house party & school dance events
with his early dj groups (AMP, MDMP). At 17, Sam was recruited by “The Fuze”,
an Oakland-based professional mobile DJ company. Daniel Del Rosario (owner/mc)
& Joseph Borja (dj) took Sam under there wing to build a professional base
in his djing skills. Soon after a steady run of consistent major party events,
Sam was choosen as a finalist in the KMEL power mix off. This began a steady
development towards being a radio dj. After a few years developing another
mobile entertainment (COA), Sam began an internship with SF radio station Wild
107, working with DJ Luvcheez on the Mancow’s Morning Madhouse show. Still a
novice at production, Mancow wanted Sam to create a Underdog mashup (using
Underdog cartoon videos) for the next mornings show. Without hesistation, the
mashup was done on time, for the airing. With an arousing response, from the
in-studio staff and listening audience, he had broken through. PD Rick Thomas
soon sought after Sam for an offer to do mixshows on a daily and weekend basis.
Rick Thomas wanted a nickname..first it was “SMOKIN”, “SIZZLIN” then
came the final nickname “Slammin’. The rest is history...
