Sounds Like
Good jazz/fusion meets funk. Throw some Latin in there to keep it spicy. Serve hot!
Don LaFontaine steps up to the mic and clears his throat. The record light clicks on... "In a world where most cover bands put you to sleep and leave mankind yearning for something more, there was a small band of musicians who dared to be different. Those musicians dared to funk. And those musicians dared to be funky with things that normally do not funk. Those musicians are the Slammin' Sisters."
That's right! The Slammin Sisters are a group of accomplished musicians who can get a small room or a large outdoor venue on their feet and dancing with their fresh, funky sound. They came together in January 2008, and they are rapidly building a following with their diverse set list and upbeat shows.
With a combined musical experience of over 80 years, the Slammin' Sisters came together from a fateful New Years gig in 2007. They melded backgrounds of jazz, gospel, funk, rock, Motown, blues, Latin, and road smarts into a group that lays down the funk professionally. They have played monthly shows at the Griffin Bookstore and Coffeebar, with more shows already planned for 2009. Other notable performances include the University Town Center's Summer Concert Series at Independence Plaza in Hyattsville, the Rappahannock Regional Library in Fredericksburg as part of the "Crusade for Strings" series, and hosting a Kids Jamming For Kids event to collect donations for the Fredericksburg Food Bank.
This powerful of accomplished musicians can get a small room or a large outdoor venue on their feet and dancing with their fresh, funky sound. They look forward to sharing their gifts and seeing where their musical journey will take them next!
Celebrity voices used in the making of this bio certainly are impersonated. After all, we live "In a world where few musicians dare to make their bio like a movie trailer." But wouldn't it be much more interesting? Long bios can be found at www.slamone.com (Slam and Becky Stewart) and www.ladybassmusic.net (Brittany Frompovich).
Here is a sample set list. Please keep in mind that the list of songs does change depending on the venue and the audience demographic.

Nice playing! Long time no see! Hope we can play again sometime. You were the first folks I played with when I moved to the area... It was at your jam session at Chords. Talk to you soon,
Hey! I really like the new song "Summertime"! Nice groove to it, and definitely enjoyed the piano solo and even its comping, very airy. And is the drummer using brushes? Either way it sounds great!
