   Slampt's Blurbs
About me:

Slampt was started by Pete Dale and Rachel Holborow in mid-1992, Newcastle upon Tyne, England. The "label" (we preferred to call it an arts umbrella) was fervently DIY throughout its 8 year existence. We begun with fanzines and cassettes, eventually spreading out to doing 7" singles, LPs, CDs and a thick A4 zine called "Fast Connection" which had 5 issues in 4 years. We also put on shows fairly regularly in North East pubs. There were 60 releases on the label, including debut singles by YUMMY FUR, KENICKIE and RED MONKEY. Most of the releases were manufactured in batches of 500 to a thousand, totalling a surprising 44,000 across the 60 releases. We still have some product left, if you want any of it it is £2 for a 7" or 3 for £5 or 5 for £7, £5 for an LP or CD or 3 for £12, these prices include postage and packing but add £1 per item for postage abroad, cash should be well-concealed in the envelope or for increased safety send cheques to P.Dale, 24 Kyle Road, Bensham, Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, NE8 2YE, enquiries to daleski@hotmail.co.uk We have: SALLY SKULL 7", BETTE DAVIS AND THE BALCONETTES 7", KODIAK 7", PETTY CRIME 7", SMALL BLACK PIG 7", v/a "4 track, 4 track" 7" (featuring Delicate Vomit, I'm Being Good, Death Star and Small Black Pig), RED MONKEY "Make the Moment" LP, RED MONKEY "Gunpowder, Treason and Plot" LP, MILKY WIMPSHAKE "Bus Route to your heart" LP, v/a "Seven Unlucky Sevens" CD (featuring Pussycat Trash, Yummy Fur, Avocado Baby, Missy X, Golden Starlet), v/a "Taking a Chance on Chances" (split compilation with Troubleman records featuring 10 bands from the 1990s US underground and 10 from the UK SLampt stable). I AM ALSO SELLING THE FOLLOWING RECORDS BUT NOT IN THE "MULTI-BUY" TYPE DEAL MENTIONED ABOVE - IF YOU WANT THESE ONES, YOU HAVE TO PAY THE FIXED PRICE LISTED: Milky Wimpshake "Popshaped" (AKA "Tried and Tested Formula") LP £6, Milky Wimpshake "Lovers not Fighters" LP £5, Chronicity (Pete Dale's new band of 2006) "Demonstration" 9 song home-made CD £3, Zea (experi-mental electro pop from Netherlands) CD £5, Red Monkey/Submission Hold split 7" £2.

Hey hey, excuse the spam. . .

"blending low-level hip-hop beats with Scorn-esque bass and elonated guitar riffs to remarkable effect. . . it's that awesome. . . the music is superb, the artwork and packaging equally good. . . [it's] warped shuffling genius. 300% necro, foo'! (5/5)" (Zero Tolerance magazine).

Necro Deathmort's This Beat Is Necrotronic is released on Distraction Records on August 31st, but you can get your hands on it for FREE (on a 'if you like it, why not buy the CD?' basis) in all of its 320kps mp3 glory at distractionrecords.com!

10 short stories: the fast paced & brutal Harvest careers its way across Europe; while the more thoughtful & reflective The Jad deals with growing up on Tyneside. Feral: clash between modern urban youth & someone who lived their dream. Scorpio: tale of revenge. Mariella: short sequel to Harvest. Kerfuffle: short fast paced story of obsession & love. Bastille Day: humorous tale which strikes a chord with anyone doomed to the penal servitude of the school run! Colin: leaves you guessing to the very last moment. Night Shift: the seedy underbelly of life in a low rent Belgian night club. Deadline: short & brutal.

Micky has spent the last 26 years concentrating on not making any money from playing in a succession of bands such as The Blood Robots, Generic, Anything But That, One By One, Ebola, & Jinn; & thought it was time to add pen to plectrum as weapon of torture.

"Drawing on his years in the gritty DIY punk scene, & dredging up universal memories of bleak, grey childhoods, Micky McGuinness has penned a deliciously grim and nihilistic collection of hard-nosed crime fiction, peopled with the sort of realistically nasty characters we might all have grown up with living next door to us... shining a light into the darkest recesses of the subconcious where REVENGE is king, this is an impressively memorable body of believable work that will stay with you long after the last bloody act of retribution has splattered the final page..." --Ian Glasper author of Burning Britain & The Day The Country Died.

Zomes is coming to Saltburnnnnn!!

..

ZOMES are a three piece band from Baltimore, USA, playing live at The Alexandra Vaults in Saltburn on Friday 6th March. Zomes founder, Asa Osbourne, is a member of the legendary band, Lungfish, who have 10 albums released on Washington DC's Dischord Records. Zomes sees Asa joined by sound artist Andrew Hayleck (known for his field recordings of natural ice formations) and Baltimore oil painter, Jordan Kasey. Together they create lo-fi experimental rock which sits on the spaced out and looped side of the fence.

QUACK QUACK are a three-piece prog/kraut/rock/jazz band from Leeds. No strangers to Saltburn, they performed an energetic live set to a small and pleasantly surprised audience at the Victoria in January. They have recorded a session for Huw Stephen's radio 1 show and have CD and vinyl releases on Saltburns' own 'Run Of The Mill Records' label.

A bit of Bilge by the Sea coming up

..

BILGE PUMP have been playing their idio(t)syncratic rock for over 15 years. As well as songs appearing on 7" and compilations, Bilge have released two tape only albums and have another two albums on Nottingham's Gringo Records. Popular with the late JOHN PEEL (i.e. the best DJ ever) they recorded two Peel sessions and got plenty of airtime on his Radio 1 show.

Two piece indie rockers from Leeds, PIFCO, comprises Steve on guitar and vocals, and Mary on drums and keyboards. They write prolifically and have a CD album out on Run Of The Mill Records. Radio 1's Huw Stephens played it on his show and decided it was his album of the week. Not bad.

This takes place this Thursday! See you there? d.x.

Distraction presents Kania Tieffer, a otter-fixated Chick On Speed cacking out pleasantly disturbed lo-fi fake nonsense r'n'b and vitriolic electropop with cheap children's keyboards, a battered old computer and an electric guitar, in an unmissable live show.
Support comes from sample stealing, tune pinching, melody wrecking a-moral wrong-uns and kings of nostalgia-core Radgepackets, and pointlessly hostile bootmash-noisewhore-wrongtronica idiot Dressed In Wires! Cor!

Only 4 quid in, kick-off at 8pm, find out more here!

The Retail Sectors new 8" square vinyl lathe in handmade packaging with download code.
"They're everyone's (or should be) favourite Japanese post rock band", according to Norman Records.

Combining a Steve Reich-sense of guitar-driven melodic elements with an abstract, almost Trans-Am like dexterity, each song builds in intricacy and volume until the immaculate devastation of the drums kick in, taking off on a flight into a vast sky of loneliness.
STRICTLY LIMITED TO 150 COPIES! Half have already went via pre-order, so if you want one, order now!

7pm - 1am Friday, 3pm - 1am Saturday, 3pm - 12pm Sunday // £5 per day // NO advance tickets

After a veriable famine in the North East music 'scene' where the musically adventurous and artistically driven have been forsaken in favour of the safe, the tame and the bland, Distraction present three days of aural innovation, future players, and diverse sonic excursions that right those very wrongs.

The Distraction Weekender returns. Accept no imitations.
