In 2002 Fade Kainer formed STILL LIFE DECAY in NYC; layering harsh electronics, crushing beats, haunting atmospheres, heavy and melodic guitars under dispiriting vocals. Pairing with Edu Mussi (guitars 2002-06) they recorded and self-released CDs, The Drown EP, in 2002 followed by the full-length album, Storm & Stress, released in 2004 with distribution by Metropolis Records and Spent Decibel. The album features guest vocals by Burton C. Bell of FEAR FACTORY and includes remixes by TERRORFAKT and SIDE 3. SLD’s new album, Parasitic, explores themes of isolation, misanthropy, addiction and apathy.
Edu Mussi departed SLD in July 2006. STILL LIFE DECAY’s current line-up consists of Fade Kainer (vocals, programming, and synths), Josh Lozano (guitar), Fred Pinault (bass), and Sean O’Connor (drums). They are recording the, Severed EP, which is set to be released in Spring 2007.
STILL LIFE DECAY has gained a strong fan base, consistently touring the United States and playing with such bands as FEAR FACTORY, DIR EN GREY, DÉSPAIRS RAY, CRUX SHADOWS, BELLA MORTE, EGO LIKENESS and many others.
