Sleeping Dervish Biography:
Always thinking of mixing different music styles, Me (Gustaf) and Vanja came to ask ourselves: "What if you take the colorful chordwork of bands like Opeth and Foo-Fighters, play them in the style of John Mayer and Keziah Jones, add the experimental lust of Gorillaz and N.E.R.D., then put on a groove like Steve Jordan and Queens of the Stone Age, and using all that, write songs in the style of Nirvana and Incubus?". With this very long and Rubik's cube styled question in mind (it wasn't nearly as pretentious as it might sound) songs formed and became Sleeping Dervish.
Just finishing our first demo "Ambition" with help from our good friend and drummer Jonas Olofsson we believe that the band has taken its first step in creating music containing so many influences it blends into something own. Sleeping Dervish is not any kind of rip-off, but a rock'n'roll treat, striving to making good songs with powerful riffs, grooves and melodies.
However, Sleeping Dervish is still a newborn band: many songs still long to be recorded and gigs whish to be... gigged! Therefor the single most important - incredibly amazingly utterly crucially (cant stress this enough!) factor that makes this possible is that You and everyone else who listen and support Sleeping Dervish keep doing that. Without your encourage its almost impossible for us to gather up the energy to create music on our spare time besides work and the everyday life! Thanks a lot for your motivation and friendship!
