About me:

Sleepygirl is a many faceted individual, a Libra cannot be otherwise. Always seeking balance but, as with all things, every action creates an equal and opposite reaction...so the dance continues every day.

This page was originally intended to be used for my business blog, but lately the theme has been leaning more toward my real passions, the Arts and Animal Welfare...so I defer to my subconscious and am allowing the change of focus.

I am. A freelance graphic designer, virtual tour photographer and publicist, Board Member of the City of NPR's Cultural Affairs Advisory Committee, working to create a cultural center out of the Orange Lake Baptist Church property purchased by the City last year, working with various musicians and artists in the area to promote their work and expand their careers all while seeking personal growth and balance in my every day life.

Support your local artists; ask for original music at your local music venues, festivals and events, seek out visual artists when you're thinking of adding a decorative piece to your business, home or garden and ask your kid's schools to put more of an emphasis on the arts (i.e. creative thinking!)
Arts-centric businesses represent 4.3 percent of all U.S. businesses and 2.2 percent of all jobs. Nationally, there are more than 612,000 arts-related businesses that employ nearly 3 million people. Employment growth by arts-centric businesses since 2007 was 11.6 percent -- more than four times the rise in the total number of U.S. employees of 2.4 percent.

Who I'd like to meet:

Anyone interesting, creative or just plain kooky (I ESPECIALLY enjoy kooky!)and, of course, other professionals, artists, musicians looking to network...

Hey!  Who can't love a cat.   Salvadore (Dali ) is getting his little puff balls plucked, Violet and her Baby daddy found love again...don't ask me ask Ed who paws the door when we aren't home leaving it wide open one week before her appt....she is going to drop any day.  we have love for all.

    Hello Sleepygirl,

Thanks for the words of encouragement. But no need to worry. I have not become too happy.

Reality is too thorny for my awful personality. I hope you're well!

Thanks Miss Lia. I am delighted that you two thought to invite the Monkey.
I enjoyed the two of you and the Fly Water Bags!!

Apparently the water bags do drive houseflies away. Not mosquitoes, not no-see-ums, not spiders, not roaches, not yellowjacket wasps, just houseflies. Evidently, houseflies, being highly edible and defenseless, are nervous types, and don't like to sit still when they see something moving nearby, because it could be a predator. The water bag acts a bit like a lens--try it some time--in which the movements of people in the area are reflected. Even if the fly is too far from the action to see it directly, it can see a shifting of light and dark in the water bag, which it interprets as nearby movement, and it will fly away from the bag. The reason it doesn't work on any other insects is that the other insects listed don't have eyesight worth a plugged nickel.

In light of Spring in the Northeast...

  • Apr 22 2009 4:31 AM

    Hey Lia...

    Well Spring has Sprung
    here in Florida and the
    animals are getting frisky!
    I photograhed this sweet
    little squirrel couple in
    the tree outside my
    office window.

    It reminded me of
    that old 70's tune
    called 'Muskrat Love"!

    Sitting in a Tree

    K-I-S-S-I-N-G

    And engaging in other
    activities that will not
    be shown here due to
    the explicit nature of it!
    Avert your eyes NOW!

    Who knew that squirrels
    actually KISS like that!
    It was so romantic.

    Like Gomez & Morticia...
    At least until it got
    pornographic....ha!

    HAPPY SPRING TO YOU!
