What is life? It is a flash of a firefly in the night. It is the breath of a buffalo in the wintertime. It is the little shadow which runs across the grass and loses itself in the sunset." Crowfoot, Blackfoot warrior

My Interests are far ranging....Everything from snapping pictures of things I find beautiful, and unique both natural and man made, to photo's of friends and family lest I forget.....I enjoy gallery exhibits and museums, theatre and travel.....
I also love camping (earth mother, child of the universe...must satisify the inner Taurean...)(actually I just love playing with a camp fire) Hockey Games (Go Wings! Go Griffs!) Shooting Pool (I suck though) CEDAR POINT, America's Roller Coast (some day I'll join ACE)
..
My taste in music is fairly eclectic, I enjoy everything from Bon Jovi, Sting and Ryan Adams to Cake, Allison Krause, and Glenn Miller.... though Meatloaf is probably my all time favorite. I have a sweet spot for show tunes, and love to relax to jazz, celtic and 'classical' music from the baroque and romantic period....However, Blues has captured me heart and soul, everything from Chicago and Texas blues to traditional Delta and Guitar Blues...
please see my bookshelf up above interests. I'm still trying to figure out how to use the application, and wondering why the application didn't place the shelf here.......
I’m never entirely sure what to say about myself, and at the risk of sounding narcissistic, I’m not sure I could be defined in one paragraph. I consider myself to be quirky, inquisitive, (my inquisitive nature has gotten me into trouble on more than one occasion), sentimental, opinionated, caustic, lighthearted and even pragmatic. There is a list of adjectives that I could plug in here. I’m quite sure my friends have a few that they could easily add. I suppose over all, I’m just plain me. I have an array of interests ranging from live music, to good food, hockey to camping, quiet time reading to wine and good conversation. In certain respects I’m very traditional, in other respects…..not so much.
Some days I feel as though I’m married to my job, though truly, my heart and my passion lie with my family and friends. Truly, it is the people in your life that bring it richness, color; they are the threads that weave the tapestry of our lives. I will say that my tapestry is large and colorful, and I am truly blessed.
Aside from work, family and friends, I am currently involved with the KVBA (Kalamazoo Valley Blues Association) and the SMPN. (For those of you not in the know, SMPN stand for Southern Michigan Para-Normals. Yep folks, I’m ghost hunting. Perhaps eccentric would be a better word to describe me??) I may also soon become involved with the Historical Society here in Kalamazoo. Volunteering is something I feel is important, and try to do so as I can, as we have a responsibility toward one another. There is more I could say, however verbose is a word that has been used to describe me...
Your Values Profile
Loyalty:
You don't really value loyalty.
In your opinion, friendship should be earned.
If you don't agree with someone, it doesn't matter how close you are.
You'll let them (and everyone else know) exactly what you think.
Honesty:
You value honesty a fair amount.
You're honest when you can be, but you aren't a stickler for it.
If a little white lie will make a situation more comfortable, you'll go for it.
In the end, you mostly care about "situational integrity."
Generosity:
You value generosity a fair amount.
You are all about giving, as long as there's some give and take.
Supportive and kind, you don't mind helping out a friend in need.
But you know when you've given too much. You have no problem saying "no"!
Humility:
You value humility a fair amount.
You tend to be an easy going, humble person.
But occasionally your ego takes over.
You have a slight competitive streak - and the need to be the best.
Tolerance:
You value tolerance highly.
Not only do you enjoy the company of those very different from you...
You do all that you can to seek it out interesting and unique friends.
You think there are many truths in life, and you're open to many of them.
Oriah Mountain Dreamer, is the author of the Invitation; a poem / prose that spoke to my soul. The piece tells of the type of person I aspire to be, as well as the qualities I want in my partner, and those with whom I surround myself.
~~~~~THE INVITATION~~~~~
It doesn't interest me what you do for a living.
I want to know what you ache for
and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart's longing.
It doesn't interest me how old you are. I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love, for your dream,
for the adventure of being alive.
It doesn't interest me what planets are squaring your moon. I want to know if you have touched the center of your own sorrow, if you have been opened by life's betrayals or have become shriveled and closed
from fear of further pain.
I want to know if you can sit with pain, mine or your own,
without moving to hide it, or fade it,or fix it.
I want to know if you can be with joy, mine or your own,
if you can dance with wildness and let the ecstasy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes without cautioning us to be careful, to be realistic, to remember the limitations of being human.
It doesn't interest me if the story you are telling me
is true. I want to know if you can disappoint another
to be true to yourself; if you can bear the accusation of betrayal and not betray your own soul; if you can be faithless and therefore trustworthy.
I want to know if you can see beauty, even when it is not pretty, every day, and if you can source your own life
from its presence.
I want to know if you can live with failure, yours and mine, and still stand at the edge of the lake and shout to the silver of the full moon, "Yes!"
It doesn't interest me to know where you live or how much money you have. I want to know if you can get up, after the night of grief and despair, weary and bruised to the bone, and do what needs to be done to feed the children.
It doesn't interest me who you know or how you came to be here. I want to know if you will stand in the center of the fire with me and not shrink back.
It doesn't interest me where or what or with whom you have studied. I want to know what sustains you from the inside,
when all else falls away.
I want to know if you can be alone with yourself
and if you truly like the company you keep in the empty moments.
I just wanted you to know how much I value all the time we have spent together lately. I know you have precious little to spare and I appreciate that you have included me in it. You are a true friend.
