Is Monroe Park on Cincinnati Dayton road? I've never been in Monroe, and I need some sort of direction on how to get to the park.

Sounds fine. I just want to make sure our amps and guitars don't get trashed. Alright, let me know the address and we should be all set!

I'm sure we can track down some frisbees by the 15th, a lot of my friends are into ultimate. We'd definitely like the 6-7 set, that's great.

My PA is a Fender Passport thing, one of those all in one deals. I think we can figure out how to use the two speakers as monitors, so that'll work. I think in order to do that we'll need a few quarter inch instrument cables since the fender passport is basically a 4 track powered mixer with two unpowered speakers, and the best way to use it as a monitor system would be to just run instrument cable from your pa mixer to the passport mixer. I don't know if we even need to mic the amps if we're not going to be sending them through the PA, so let's not worry about that. It depends on how many vocalists you've got, but for the four XLR inputs on your mixer I think we should do two vocal mics, the d6 on the kick drum and if we feel like it a 57 on the snare. I don't know if I'll bring the d2s since if we've only got 4 XLR inputs there isn't much of a point to bring mics for toms. What sort of cables do you have? I don't know how long of mic cables we'll need for this, but the mic cables I have aren't terribly long since I use them mostly in my basement studio and don't need anything with a ton of length. Let me know what kind of spare cables you've got, both 1/4 inch and XLR, and if we need anything additional I'll make a trip to guitar center this weekend.

Can you give me the address of the park we're playing at? I'll need to be able to let our fans know where it is. Also, do you have a plan in case of bad weather? Do you have a tent thing to set us up under or should we just assume it's canceled if it's rainy?

We could do however long of a set there's time for. An hour would probably be ideal, but if there isn't that much time, we can just do a standard half hour set.
I think borderline is http://myspace.com/borderlineoh but I could be wrong, I'll look into it. The bassist goes to my school, so worst case I'll give him your link on Monday morning if you can't find him this weekend. As far as activities, I'm not sure. You'll probably want some various concession stands if that's not too tough to arrange. Maybe just have a buddy bring a grill and flip some burgers, or you could call some vendors and see if they want to show up and set up a stand. Cornhole is always good, and you should definitely bring some frisbees. I'll keep thinking about what other stuff we could set up. I don't have any monitors; I have a really small PA system that can really only handle vocals for rehearsal in my basement... I'll bring that and we could probably wire up those speakers as monitors. Do you need me to bring mics? How big is your mixer, and what sort of PA cabinets would it go through? If we're really only doing vocals through the PA and then just leaving the amps and drums unmic'd than whatever, but if you'd like I have a few sm57s for snare and guitar cab, an audix d6 for the kick drum, two audix d2s for toms, and two akg perception 170s for the overheads on the drumset. Probably we wouldn't need overhead drum mics, but sm57s, d2s, and the d6 might come in handy. Let me know. I've also got some very standard vocal mics that aren't anything special, which I'll probably bring just in case or whatever. If you could write me back and let me know specifically what kind of PA setup we're looking at, I can look through all of my gear and see what I can come up with to help out.

Okay one more message, sorry. I talked to the guys and they think Friday the 15th would work best for us, just because it'll be tough to get any of our fans out to Monroe on a Sunday. Will that work for you? If not, let me know and we can shoot for the weekend of the 23rd, and I'll see what's open with the guys then.
Plato's Mustache

Apr 23 2009 1:58 AM

Okay well I figured out where Monroe is. I think the 15th at night or the 17th during the day would work best, since we've got a 9th and 31st show already, and we're playing at our school's MusicFest on the 22nd. I'll talk some more to the other guys just to make sure. As for other bands, you should check out a band my friend is in called Borderline. They put on a pretty good show.

Apr 21 2009 2:52 AM

I think maybe like May 15th or 17th would work alright. Prom is the 16th, so that's out.
Where exactly is Monroe?

We're on spring break starting on Good Friday which is April 10th I think, but then two of us are on a trip with our school's jazz band leaving on the 14th for the rest of our break.
Yeah we'd love to do a show with you guys! Let us know if you guys figure it out!

Feb 11 2009 3:14 AM

We don't care about money or anything, so we're totally up for it. We'd love to play with you guys! (This is the guitarist, again.) I've gotta check it out for July 4th, it's possible I might be out of town, but if I'm in town we're definitely in.

After our show at the hatter this weekend, we're gonna hit the studio hard and try to finish up the album. We've got maybe 10 tracks pretty well finished, but we've still got 3 to record and a few more to write before the album is finished.

You're talking to the lead guitarist when the responses are spelled right and seem measured and normal, and you're talking to the drummer when nothing is capitalized and the comments are off the wall.
