GeneralPlaying and learning guitar: .. Classic jazz . Old pop tunes done in a jazzy style, viper tunes (from the '30s & '40s, what a nice period in so many ways). Menudo (the food), travel, the desert of Texas out by Terlingua, islands (and the east coast of Costa Rica), making Ciabbata bread toast for the love of my life* , and stuff like that. . . .................................<><><><><>...<><><> *her name is Meaux Jeaux .... pronounced moe-joe .................................<><><><><>...<><> .................................<><><><><>...<><> Check out the Myspace of The Kat's Meow and Kat Edmonson: Click on the pictures in "Smile's Friends Space" below <><><> Look for pictures of Meaux Jeaux. She wants to be my friend!
MusicCount Basie, The Benny Goodman Sextet with Charlie Christian, Wes Montgomery, most of the music of Sweets Edison, everything by my principal bands: The Kat's Meow with Kat Edmonson, The Jitterbug Vipers with Emily Gimble, The Slim Richey Dream Band with Maryann Price or Gaila Kenneally, stuff by my other bands, Western Swing*, Gatemouth Brown, T-Bone Walker, Freddie Green with Herb Ellis, Barney Kessell, ... and the list goes on and on!.................................<><><><><>...<><><>...<><> *Claim to fame: I'm the last living lead guitarist on the Milton Brown boxed set. <><><><><> <><> <><> The video below is of an ex-student and good friend, Clint Strong. The tune he plays here is “Miss Ann’s Tempo” by Grant Green. I don’t think he knows the name of it. When he was 10 years old I assigned him this tune, showed him the head and got him started on transcribing all of Grant’s solos from a cassette tape. In this clip he pays tribute to Grant by playing all of his solos note-for-note before blasting off into Clint-Strong-maga-licks. Check out his stuff on youtube. He teaches at Lamb Music in the Fort Worth area. <><><><> Barney Kessell – one of my heroes. <><> <><> <><> I met Herb Ellis at Jazz at the Philharmonic in Dallas in 1956. Stuff Smith is one of my favorite fiddlers. Dig this great treasure! <><> Just sitting in. Lost. Enthralled. JESSIE LEE MILLER "Happy Birthday Baby" for Johnny Cuviello, 2007 <><><><>
MoviesOne Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Fargo, Being There, The Third Man, Legends of the Fall (a movie with glaring weaknesses but I liked the story and Anthony Hopkins), & The Last Picture Show, Dr. Strange Love, and the list goes on!
TelevisionI only watch television when I stay in motels. What a waste of time! I like to be on television, and I'll watch DVDs of TV shows sometimes but I wouldn't own a television (ugh!). Hey! I'm not criticizing you!! Hey, you like television? Copy this and paste it in your address bar, wait about 10 seconds and bingo!.................................<><><><><>...<><> VIDEO ON WEB: http://www.news8austin.com/content/top_stories/?ArID=159837 Click on Play the video. ::: http://www.news8austin.com/content/top_stories/?ArID=159837. .................................<><><><><>... <><>.................................<><><><><>...<><> Write me if you like it. If you don't like it, write that on a piece of paper and put it in a corked bottle and throw it in the ocean. BooksI like biographies of jazz musicians and books on libertarian themes, free market environmentalism and economics, especially Austrian Economics." I Must Speak Out" by Carl Watner is a book I could read over and over. Rigoberto Stewart, Joseph Campbell, and J. Krishnamurti are favorite authors. I like fiction too. Flannery O'Connor, Zora Neale Hurston, Cormac McCarthy, and Larry McMurtry. . I like sufi poetry (Hafiz) and my favorite poet is Wislawa Szymborska. Don't get me started. I'm not afraid of freedom and I'm sad that so many people are! I'm a thoughtful person and always on the prowl for new insights (psychology, philosophy, economics, art, music, you name it!)
HeroesFrancie Meaux Jeaux (OMG! - the love of my life), all of my children and grand children, Wes Montgomery, Barney Kessell, Herb Ellis, Kat Edmonson, Emily Gimble, Carl Watner, Rigoberto Stewart, Joseph Campbell, Flannery O'Connor, Zora Neale Hurston and the list will go on and on if I think long. <><> <><> Clint Strong – Burning “Oleo”!

We are saddened by the passing of Stephen Bruton, but on Saturday night, May 16, we will enjoy beautiful music to keep the spirit alive in Austin. So come on down the driveway and past the chicken coop to the backyard for a fantastic show.

Megan Melara - Megan has worked with Stephen Bruton in the past and carries on the music in her own style. She started picking out tunes on the piano at a very early age and her evolution has led to some strong lyrics and songs that will wake you up and remind you of why you love the feelings. Check her out at www.meganmusic.net

Slim Richey and Dream Lovers - a night of jazz under the stars. Is Slim Richey really the most dangerous guitar player in Texas? We do know that at 72 he is one of the leading Austin music legends. Meaux Jeaux is bringing her standup base and they will be joined by Sarah Sharp. Let’s hear it for peaceful anarchy!!!! Check them out at www.myspace.com/slimrichey

If you can’t be here in person, watch live on the internet at www.austinmusicvideo.com or www.tvknob.com

VICTIM #3
kdallesandro 2009 sorta music BMI

Live the life of Reilly
And tryin' to make believe
All you have to offer
Is hidden up your sleeve
Insults dripping with measured dare
Eyes are nothing but a glassy stare
Rip Rip Rip me to pieces
Confetti flying through the air
I don't have the guts
To even the score and
I don't want to be
Your victim number 3
(don't pressure me//)

Running the risk
Of walking the line
You don't have the guts
To admit this carnal crime
I caught you sitting on a dirty floor
With your knickers and her pinafore
Rip Rip Rip me to pieces
Confetti flying through the air
I don't have the guts
To even this score and
I don't want be
Your victim number 3
(don't pressure me//)

//

Don't want to be victim #3
Don't pressure me
Don't want to be victim #3

Rip Rip Rip me to pieces
I don't want to be
Your victim number 3

Jump on the bandwagon
And ride your coattails home
Censor correspondence
And request you're left alone
You break The 10 commandments
Hammer falling striking stone
Rip Rip Rip me to pieces
Confetti flying through the air
I don't have the guts
To even this score but
I don't want to be
Your victim number 3
(don't pressure me//)

Give alittle more time
He's scared to let go
Love is a feeling
He's afraid to show
Give alittle more time
If you want your love to grow
