SO one time, Sam Harvey, son of Kansas City legend, Bob Harvey, got a left handed guitar for Christmas after his parents noticed that he'd been secretly playing some of the stringed instruments lying around the house. Sam picked up on how to play the thing and around the same time, Sam's good chum Ian Smith picked up a bass lying around his house and learned how to play it. A good couple of months in, and they decided to form a little Rock N' Roll thing with a drummer who lived down the street.
After months straight of playing the Blue Oyster Cult song, "Godzilla", and jamming to some premiumly crafted riffs by the two, Sam and Ian decided then and there to buckle down and get ultra serious about the whole band deal.
A bit after that, Sam discovered funk music and fell deeply into a spell of musical orgasms. He introduced Ian to what he had been listening to, and Ian too felt the supreme love for this funk. Ian shortly after learned how to slap a string with his thumb, and then pop another string with his finger. With this technique, they crafted some serious beats which manifested into the first 6 full songs they ever wrote, entitled "Universal Drama Queen", "Standing", "The Whole World's Going to Hell", "All of my Ex-Girlfriends are Bitches", "Rotten Mushrooms" and everyone's favorite, "Flying Funk From Outer Space".
With a love for funk, and a lifetime of listening to heavy metal and punk rock, Slink had it's beginning. They threw in local musical genius, Ryan Overfelt to play drums, and Slink was complete. They had their first show at their good friend, Mac the Jedi's house. After playing numerous basement shows and birthday parties and whatnot, Slink started playing real venues and attracting several people to come hear them make musical majesty.
After a good year or so, things with Ryan became tight, because he was involved with several different musical happenings, and they just decided it'd be easier for all of them to be separated. During this time, Ian and Sam were unsure of their musical future, but dedicated to continue moving forward. It was then when they hopped on the ball and started writing music like CRAZY. Song after song came pumping out of them, and as more people heard, more people loved.
Slink had quite a predicament at this point. People wanted to hear them, but they had no drummer. Slink got asked to play a show downtown with The Living Daylites at a big house party in Summer. Sam personally also got asked to fill in playing bass for The Living Daylites, seeing as his brother Quinn Harvey, of the local act, The Mickey Finn Band, was going to fill in on second guitar duties for them as well. It was in that band that Sam musically met Dustin Gerber. Dustin had been playing drums for years and years, even with Quinn in different musical acts. Well the show happened, and Slink threw in Tyler Mehaffey to fill in on the drums with them. Then The Living Daylites played, and the show was a great party and everyone was in love with everything.
Shortly after, Sam and Ian partied often at Quinn's apartment. Not just after, though, they partied there all the time. Dustin being a friend of Quinn's just happened to be there once or twice at the same time. After a long night of intoxication, Sam and Ian asked Dustin if he would like to be the new drummer of Slink. Dustin agreed to host a little jam between the three of them at his house in Gladstone, MO. All three of them took out their instruments, plugged them in and started rocking. Instantly they all realized that what they had between the three of them was something very unique, special, sexy, and dangerous. Even before trying to work out any kind of song, the jams between them were very tight, very improvised, and VERY good.
Ever since, Slink has been rocking Kansas City to it's very core and making a name for itself among local bands. They've developed a good following so far of many interesting, hilarious, and unique individuals. They love their fans, they love music, and they love beer.
We are Slink, a crazy funk metal band out of Kansas City, Missouri. We bring the sweetest, sexiest, funkiest, punkiest, spunkiest, melodious, mellifluous sounds to the most sensitive, orgasmic sector of your brain.

So Ian, I'm sorry but now I actually live in the city so I can actually get to the show.
Second of all, come on guys, flying funk has always been my favourite, and even though you have a 'new better recording of it' it's sounds the same. the music is less distorted, but i still here the same thing from everyone who hears it on my pro. 'you can't understand the lyrics, even if you tried'
But eh, you're still my favourite group of kids that hated me in school;)lol
