Influences

Musicians are influenced, to some extent, by everyone they've ever heard. The influences don't have to be genre icons, famous, or even especially good. There's something to learn from everyone. With that said, here are just a few of the more recognizable folks (in no particular order) that have had some influence on our individual styles and on our style as a band:

Gaelic Storm, Solas, Lunasa, The Chieftains, Eileen Ivers, Cherish The Ladies, Joanie Madden, The Battlefield Band, The Pogues/ Shane MacGowan, Silly Wizard, Andy M. Stewart, Stan Rogers, Ed Miller, Dervish, Bad Haggis, Natalie McMaster, John Doyle, Seamus Egan, Bonnie Rideout, Tommy Makem & The Clancy Brothers, The Irish Rovers, Planxty, Great Big Sea, Barleyjuice, Relativity, John Whelan, Joe Burke, Patrick Street, Andy Irvine, Paul Brady, Kevin Burke, Ged Foley, Alasdair Fraser, Martin Hayes

   About SlipJig Celtic Band

SlipJig believes that music should be as much fun as possible. Their music comes from the traditions of Ireland, Scotland, and other Celtic lands. It spans a range of styles from high-energy jigs and reels to ancient airs and ballads to raucous pub songs.

SlipJig plays with (mostly) traditional instruments in a (mostly) traditional style and while they make an effort not to break tradition, they admit to bending it on occasion. SlipJig is based in the Huntsville, Alabama area.
