Interests

  • General

My daughter, attempting to drive my husband insane, gardening, making things, social justice. I am usually fired up about something. Why can't people just do the right thing!? It is not all that hard.
  • Music

I love almost all music. Music is vital to my survival! I am addicted to good music.

I have a hard time deciding what songs to put on my profile, so I think that I am going to change it every week.
  • Movies

I love movies that make me laugh, teach me something, or at least leave me feeling better after I have seen them.
    Examples are:

Children of Men, Howl's Moving Castle, The Cable Guy, Dazed and Confused, The Man From Snowy River, The Black Stallion, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Pineapple Express, Superbad, Labyrith, Dark Crystal, Nightmare Before Christmas, Coraline, Office Space, Secretary, Up, Away We Go and now my mind has gone blank. So to be continued...
This is Bryan's latest, slightly demented video...
If you watch it, let me know if it plays okay. He is working on new hopefully less demented videos, and we would like for them to load and play smoothly.

  • Television

National Geographic, History Channel - if they are showing something about the Celts and I know about it, you can bet I am watching it.
I do not really like Comedy Central, but I do like The Colbert Report
We watch way too much Noggin and Nick Jr.! Although Feather is finally getting to were she likes to watch animal shows now.
  • Books

Anything by Morgan Llywelyn, Jean Auel, Judith Tarr. I love to read, so this list should really be a lot longer.
Recently read: *My Booky Wook by Russell Brand - Very Good
*Girls of Riyadh by Rajaa Alsanea - Really enjoyed this
    * Fences and Windows: Dispatches from the Front Lines of the Globalization Debate by Naomi Klien - Very good, but hard to read something from 7 years ago, with stuff that we are still dealing with now.
Honeymoon in Tehran: Two Years of Love and Danger in Iran by Azadeh Moaveni - Very good! I was already a fan from an article that I read a while back in Time.
    **Currently Reading**
The Man Who Listens To Horses by: Monty Roberts
  • Heroes

Mahatma Gandhi, Muntadhar al-Zeidi, Aung San Suu Kyi, Hedy Epstein, anyone who sees something wrong and has the courage to do something about it.

About me:

I like to grow things, make things, create things. I like to write, and have all these character and story ideas running around in my mind, but all that comes out are stories for my daughter who is 5.
I love animals, to the extent that I refer to my two dogs as my fuzzy, four legged, children - they are my boys. Horses are my favorite, but they could really qualify as an obsession.
I could live off of Tia Rosa Tortilla Chips, Hell on the Red salsa Bryan's salsa -- will try to post the recipe -- it is awesome, and Dublin Dr. Pepper (it is made with REAL sugar, not corn syrup, and is heaven!)
I really like making new backgrounds for myspace. Just when I think that I am finally happy with my latest one, I will change something, and then go back to Fireworks and make something else. Of course my youtube channel has to match my myspace, so it can be time consuming. I am thinking about just doing the pictures and letting others use them. Not that it will change anything, but one can hope.
My family calls me Jess. I live in the suburbs and am trying to make the best of it by attempting to grow vegetables in the backyard. If I had my way, I would either live in the city within walking distance to everything, or way out in the middle of nowhere, so I could have horses and animals. I would even like to have chickens!
I am into Celtic and Irish history.
I am a little bit of a control freak, but I am working on that.

I think that having a sense of humor is one of the most crucial keys to survival.

Who I'd like to meet:

Anyone who gets it. Yes I know that is a little vauge, but if you get it, then you understand. Actually I am interested in meeting all different kinds of people.

It's become a tune that people sing along to when I play. And, the first time anyone (drunk but it counts) ever danced to my music, it was to 'Going to Dublin'. So... the first time anyone in Texas got a song I wrote stuck in their head, it happened to be .................. Thanks, I'm charmed, its a cool thing to happen. Have a nice day.
