Sloan Wainwright comes from a family of amazingly gifted singer/songwriters; her family tree, which includes brother Loudon, nephew Rufus and niece Martha, reads like a who's who of contemporary popular music. Sloan’s particular sensibility and sublimely powerful voice make her a unique presence in today’s music world; her soulful, uplifting and heartfelt songs speak poetically of life’s joys and sorrows, all the while showcasing the haunting tones of her voice. At times reminiscent of soul and gospel greats like Aretha Franklin, at times she is as quiet and spiritual as Joni Mitchell, and in addition to her own canon of songs, Sloan regularly performs renditions of some of pop music’s most memorable classic songs as well. With six original CD releases to her credit, she has also written numerous musical compositions for theater and dance and teaches at some of the best-known master songwriter series and workshops. Sloan is a rare, one of a kind voice that speaks deeply to our humanity and leaves us forever changed.
Hi Sloan, thanks for accepting my request. Your voice is so warm , rich and powerful and all of the songs are just wonderful. The creativity of your family is unbelievable. Peace and love, LB
A thousand thanks for the Add, Sloan. Feel like an initiate into the Wainwright/Roche clan as there are so many important voices singing in my ears now. Each as melodious, each specifically visionary, each beautiful to behold in their own right. God's blessed you all to our benefit. Peace...
I was very pleased to hear some good news from Bill and Fern on your end. I wanted to let you know we are thinking about you and yours and sending our love and positive energy your way - every day.
Hey Sloan, Hope you are doing well! I'm working on booking my summer tour and getting ready to finish my new CD. I'll make sure and let you know when some of the new songs are posted! Take care, Kristen
I've had your self-titled album from '95 for the longest time, must say it's holding up rather well, as is the case with most great artists. Glad to find you here.
Hi Sloan. Pleasure meeting you while you were in Jersey with Rufus! I hope all is going well with the benefit and your husband. I'm sorry I can't make it! My thoughts, prayers, and donation is with you!
Soooo psyched to be seeing you and Rufus on Friday night--I even managed a half-decent seat! I'll try and bring those materials I keep saying I'm gonna send you, maybe drop 'em off for you if I don't get a chance to say hi.
Hi Sloan, Love your voice and songs. Am amazed at your entire talented family tree! PS - Probably none of my biz, but did you get your hair cut off? Best, Beth B.
Has anyone told you today how wonderful, great and beautiful you are today? Can I be one of several? Listening to you sing and thinking of you and yours Big hug M
Dear Sloan, "The Word of the Day" is... thanks! And for your amazing voice that has a signature so unique, rich, and unlike anyone elses on this planet! It's nice to have you as a real life friend, but this is pretty cool also. take a peek at my pics and find a composite of the two of us while working on the "Julie of the Wolves" stuff in the studio. If you hate it I'll remove it but you look great compared to me 50 lbs. heavier than I am now!:~) Hope this find you and yours well and happy. Love-Peace, Chris
How goes it. Hope all is well. Thank you for the add. Hope to see you this summer at the Dylan Festival at Warwick Valley Winery, Or some of the other festivals. Thanks again.
Thank you for adding me. I love your music. This is how I found you. I saw Loudon in Rotterdam (Holland) in the early 1980s, then I lost track of him until I heard Martha with Snow Patrol. I went to see her in August 2007 at Shepherds Bush in London. Then I saw Rufus late November in the Hammersmith Apollo in London. Now I've found you here on MySpace. I'm also re-discovering Loudon. Amazingly talented family. Your strong and warm voice really inspires me. I'm thrilled to have found you. Love, Wina

2 of 230, walkaboutsverse.741.com: WALKABOUT WITH MY PEN
Once drove an old sedan, up north, From a place in Sydney to Cairns; Then to Kuranda I went forth, By train, to look without set plans.
I browsed through the trendy market, With fresh fruits of tropical kind; Walked to the creek through lush thicket - Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.
I dined in a scenic cafe; Then, outside, as I wrote for yen, Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey, You go walkabout with your pen.”
Request or question, I don’t know - Assured voices, elderly men. That’s now several years ago, And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.
