| About Sloat Entertainment, Inc. |
Adam Sloat has been a personal artist manager for over 15 years, after work interning at indie labels and as a profession guide for a white water river rafting company in high school (Boulder) and college (Tulane - New Orleans). He founded Miasma Management in New Orleans in 1995, since changing the name to Sloat Entertainment after moving offices from New Orleans to Boston to Los Angeles. He has broaded his scope to include promotions and label consulting, along with working with a few non-music related clients to seek out book deals, TV work and more. Because Adam's musical tastes are broad, the roster is kept diverse. We seek out and enjoy the ability to work with all phases and levels of the business of music and entertainment in general.
In 2007 Adam moved back to New Orleans to take on the role of General Manager for Sony RED distributed Nocturnal Records, along with helping to manage releases from partner label Housecore Records (Phil Anselmo's label). We also did work with The Voodoo Music Experience, online music sites and more.
In July of 2008, life and work took Adam to Las Vegas. It was a move to be closer to Los Angeles and friends and business there, along with his Vegas-based girlfriend, who it was time he settled down with.
Most recently we've had The Memphis Horns playing on the new Raconteurs awesome release and on the new James Bond movie theme song with Jack Black and Alicia Keys. We're working with TAT who's gaining momentum fast on the road with The Warped Tour, Alice Cooper, and Lagwagon and MXPX. We are helping the band to release their debut on Oct 28th. The Blanks have just filmed a couple episodes of what could be the final season of Scrubs as the show moves to ABC, and also working on their first live shows outside Los Angeles. And The Waking Hours are gaining more placements in TV/Film/Video Games (over 20 different songs have been placed in 70+ shows and films and games). We do a little of this and a little of that as well - you know the this and the that.....
Some of our current and recent roster clients and work includes:
TAT:
www.myspace.com/TAT (London Town, England)
Straight from the Queen's womb, placenta in hand, TAT conquered the UK underground, sold 10,000 records independently, took the money, shacked up with US producer Russ-T Cobb (The Academy Is.., Sevendust, Hot Hot Heat etc) in October and recorded their debut album due for a late summer 2008 US release !
Why in American? Why the US?
It all started with an accidental month on the US Warped tour 2006 where the band, who originally set out to play 8 dates, were offered the rest of the tour totalling 28 dates, scoring them some great interest and opportunities including 2007 support tours with The Bouncing Souls, Me First and The Gimme Gimmes, and NOFX round the UK and Europe which they were lucky enough to get through personal invites from the bands themselves.
2006 - 2007 was certainly year and a half for the band, but it was not their first. TAT have been churning out hits for 3 years! "When we got together as the 3 piece we are today, 3 years ago, getting signed just wasn’t a priority... we had to get good first." says Tatiana DeMaria the bands’ front woman and songwriter.
And that they did! Playing over 200 hundred shows including supports with The Offspring, Therapy?, an arena tour of Poland, playing Reading Festival 2004 and Download Festival 2005 earning them some great reviews and new friends at radio in the UK and Europe. Their debut single - Peace Sex and Tea charted in the UK's top 100 as did their second single; Pessimist live from Reading festival, which entered the UK BBC Rock Chart at no 18.
TAT are now gearing up for their debut album release this Fall and the tours with it!

NOCTURNAL RECORDS and HOUSECORE RECORDS:
www.myspace.com/nocturnalrecords (New Orleans)
GM of Nocturnal Records (and our Joint Venture with Philip Anselmo's Housecore Records), based in Mandeville, LA. We also work with the Voodoo Music Experience, our own Balance Studios (two amazing facilities), and an in-house website, video production and graphic design company - TAI Media. Nocturnal Records has worked with Dave Fortman (Evanescence, Mudvayne, Superjoint Ritual), Daniel Rey (the Ramones, Misfits, Murpheys Law), J. Yuenger (White Zombie, Fu Manchu), and Pepper Keenan (Corrosion of Conformity, Down) to produce some amazing music from bands like Terra Diablo, Suplecs, Marginal Way, Fall From Eden and Rock City Morgue. For Housecore Records, we have just released Arson Anthem, an in-your-face EP for fans of 80's hardcore, with Mike IX Williams (Eyehategod) on vox, Collin Yeo on bass, Phil Anselmo (Pantera, Down) on guitar and III (Assjack, Superjoint Ritual) on drums!! All star band, bad-ass album. Both labels are distributed by Sony/RED and you can find our products everywhere music is sold, online and off.
THE MEMPHIS HORNS:
www.memphishorns.com (Memphis)
Wayne Jackson and Andrew Love are The Memphis Horns and they are THE purveyors of soul music. They've made legendary contributions to over 300 hit records! We're talking Otis Redding's "Dock of the Bay," Aretha Franklin's "Respect," Al Green's "Let's Stay Together," Wilson Pickett's "Mustang Sally," Percy Sledge's "When A Man Loves A Woman," and of course Sam & Dave's "Soul Man"... and even U2's "Angel of Harlem," Steve Winwood's "Roll With It," and Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline" - they helped give these songs and many, many more their sound and their soul. They've recorded with Elvis, Sting, Lenny Kravitz, Billy Joel, Bonnie Raitt, and on and on. They most recently performed on the Tonight Show with Beyonce' Knowles. They are quite frankly, "The Most Recorded Horn Section in American Popular Music." They've toured with Stephen Stills, Rod Stewart, The Doobie Brothers, Jimmy Buffett, Joe Cocker and Robert Cray as well. Need we say more? Now really....
2002 - We were proud to have The Memphis Horns join Beyonce' Knowles on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," to perform her hit single "Work It Out" from the film Austin Powers Goldmember. Most recently in 2008 they performed on the new release from The Raconteurs.
Please contact us for interest in Wayne Jackson as a producer/arranger. The horns are one thing, Wayne's abilities to arrange and producer are another. He learned the art under the legendary Arif Mardin, celebrated most recently for his work on Norah Jones mega-hit album.
THE BLANKS:
www.theblankswebsite.com (Los Angeles)
NOVEMBER 2007 - we have just begun working with The Blanks, a quartet of friends who like to sing a cappella music. For a few years now they've been appearing on the television show Scrubs as 'Ted's Band' where, as luck would have it, they have to pretend to be a quartet of friends who like to sing a cappella music. They've put out a CD, and they do live shows, where you can see them singing TV and movie themes such as "Charles in Charge" and the "Superman March." They also do songs with talking toys - that's right, four grown men who still play with dolls... er, we mean action figures. http://www.myspace.com/theofficialblanksmyspace.
THE WAKING HOURS:
www.myspace.com/thewakinghours (Richmond, VA originally, Los Angeles currently)
The Waking Hours play rock and roll. Call it Mod-Rock Hipster Pop. In the band's material it isn't uncommon to hear Beach Boys-like harmonies dancing over loaded rock riffs, nor is it unusual for Beatle-esque melodies to mingle with raw punk energy. Live, they are a must-see, Tom Richards pinwheeling his arm like Townshend did all those years ago, while the band leaps about and slams. This is a band that churns their influences into a combination of soul and aggression with stick-in-your-head melodies, creating a tonic of amped-up pop that leaves you wanting more. Rich with harmonies, energy, attitude and hooks, The Waking Hours will restore your faith in rock and roll.
The last 4 years have been exciting, seeing the band place 20 different songs in over 50 different spots in TV, Film, Video Games, DVD's and more. Highlights include a song in the final scene and end credits in 2006's "The Bench Warmers" (David Spade, John Heder, Rob Schneider), two EA Sports games, Scrubs' DVD commercials, CSI: New York, Las Vegas series DVD, Toyota.com, MTV's Real World and Next, Veronica Mars, trailer for the film Pauly Shore is Dead, and many more.
MEM SHANNON & THE MEMBERSHIP:
www.myspace.com/memshannon (New Orleans)
Hailing from New Orleans, Mem Shannon was introduced to the world in late 1995 with his Rykodisc debut "A Cab Driver's Blues." He’s since gained international attention as much for his cabby background as for his contemporary sounds. He's released 5 albums worldwide to huge critical praise. Best described as funky blues, Mem just writes good music and real songs. He has been covered by NPR, NY Times, USA Today, CBS Sunday Morning, ABC World News, E! Entertainment Television, Beale Street Caravan, World Cafe, Mountain Stage, E-Town and many others. The band has performed overseas and at tons of clubs and premier festivals in the U.S. No stranger to good jams and grooves, Mem is best represented by original songs with universal subject matter - all delivered tight and funky by his 4-piece band. 2005-2006 was a banner year, seeing Mem's 2005 release get major airplay - every single song on the album was spun at radio. From Triple-A to Blues to Americana to Jamband formats. Mem was also nominated for two 2006 Blues Music Awards - Soul Blues Album of the Year, Soul Blues Male Artist of the Year. He is nominated for the same two awards in 2008 - results in May.
THE GLOBAL BATTLE OF THE BANDS:
www.gbob.com
www.myspace.com/gbobusa (USA)
GBOB is the World's Largest Live Music Contest, Adam Sloat was the US National Director for 2005-2006 (we've now handed this off to the very capable hands of Chris Cardenas. In the US, we had 179 bands and 24 shows in 2005, with 200 bands and 18 shows in 2006 - all in major cities across the US. 2006's US Finals was a sold-out event at The Key Club in Los Angeles. While we represent the US, we're part of an international team that included 25 countries this year. The World Finals take place in London with a first prize of $100,000 cash and a World Tour. HEAVY MOJO from Atlanta, GA as the US Finalist won this year!!! It was a huge event at the Astoria Theatre with amazing bands from around the world, but Heavy Mojo and the USA took home the prize. Look for big things from them. Our work with GBOB is to support up and coming bands and to help those we don't manage get some real legitimate shots and career boosts. We work with industry judges around the country and top sponsors like Gibson, Von Dutch, ASCAP, Sam Ash Music, Plantronics, Vic Firth, Dean Markley and on and on.
GARY HIRSTIUS:
(New Orleans)
This "Rock & Roll Detective" has emerged from his clandestine activities with an immense catalog of songs. From heartfelt and raw emotion filled-ballads to back porch rockers, this is real and organic American music. We call it “Maverick Americana." Gary's album "Slightly Out of Focus" was named one of the Top 20 albums by a Louisiana Artist for 2001 (by the Times Picayune). Gary has been a mainstay on the New Orleans singer/songwriter and rock & roll scene for years, though he's earned his living with an undercover day job as a private investigator for over 20 years. There's TV/Film interest in his story based on the amazing tales from his bayou and French Quarter-based stealth cases as a Rock & Roll P.I., but Gary is the real deal as a music artist and as talented a songwriter as they come. He's toured the country, performed in Levon Helm's Allstar band, played with The Band and shared stages with everyone from Edwin McCain to Lucinda Williams to Jerry Jeff Walker to the subdudes.
