SRT 01: DAY FOR AIRSTRIKES - "Into The Comet" LP will be appearing in our solar system this Summer, after its long journey round the galaxies of recording for quite some time. A couple of tracks have been mixed, and one titled "Cosmonaut" is now available on both this page and theirs. It is extremely sexy - slimmed down in all the right places, though not always where you'd expect it, and plenty buxum where you want it to be. I want a woman in my bed so that I can make love and imagine it is to this song instead of her. Go and listen to it!
Slow Riot is now a collective! For the gigs at least anyway. I've joined forces with my very good friend John, and we're gonna have some really great stuff this year. We put on gigs in Lancaster, usually about one a month. Don't bother getting in touch about wanting to play a one off here unless you know for a fact that one or more of us likes you and we might want to, we usually have a good idea of who we would like to see, and at the moment we're usually way too ahead of ourselves. If you're booking a tour though and your band (or the band you're booking the tour for as long as you're not a sleazy money grabbing agent) has a DIY attitude then ask away and if we like the music we'll see what we can do, although it might not be much. A few more people are interested in putting gigs on round here these days so if we can't do it we might be able to put you in touch with someone that might be able to at the very least.
Saturday 16th January 2010: The Yorkshire House, 2 Parliament Street, Lancaster LA1 1DB
£4; 8pm DIET PILLS - Heavy noisy rock, a bit like THE MELVINS covering THE JESUS LIZARD, with a four-way split 12" coming out on Slow Riot and At War With False Noise! APES FIGHT BACK - Drum 'n' bass duo with inevitable lazy comparisons to LIGHTNING BOLT. JOYEUX - Balls out noisy punk rock and roll, earplugs and blindfolds recommended.
+ 1 more TBC.
All vinyl releases will also include a CD-R for all you digital types who want to put them on an mp3 player or similar device. The CD-R will obviously contain the tracks on the records, and possibly some extras like live recordings or remixes or something as well. No point in wasting space, eh?
This release was going to be on a 7" but unfortunately both bands decided to call it a day, at the same time that the price of pressing vinyl went up and it just became a bit too risky to throw all that money at it, so it was done as a CD-R instead. It is in a nice DIY photocopied paper sleeve and was rushed to be ready for THE DAY MAN LOST's final show at The Bitter Suite in Preston on the 28th of August 2008. It was indeed a bitter sweet occasion.
"Pressing" info:
1st: 100, red paper covers. SOLD OUT.
2nd: 50, red paper covers. No different really. SOLD OUT.
Some still available from the bands I believe, and I might do another run soon. More interest in it makes it more likely, so don't hesitate to get in touch!
SRT 01:
DAY FOR AIRSTRIKES have been one of my favourite bands for a fair few years, and I'm lucky enough to know them too. They've gone from strength to strength, and the new stuff they've written for this record is so stupidly good that I'm possibly the most excited I've ever been. It's still post-rock, but with proggy interludes and some really quite noisy moments. Their new full length album is called "Into The Comet" and will be with us (at long last!) this Summer!
SRT 02:
MANATEES are one of the greatest and loudest bands in this country right now, and when I discovered that their new album, Icarus The Sunclimber (available on CD right now on Eyes of Sound), wasn't getting a vinyl release I offered my services. It looks like it's hopefully going to be a split release between myself, Eyes of Sound and Privileged to Fail Records. I'm personally very proud to be a part of it!

The soundtrack for the wedding party of anger & gloom. Traktor from Sweden, which are not only highly considered in circles of connoisseurs because of their extraordinary live qualities, perfect their grim chaos-core on their first full length, entitled Lights. The typical Traktor sound from the early days with indigestive breaks and dissonant guitar riffs in the vein of famous San Diego bands like Drive Like Jehu or Swing Kids is getting enobled with dark & calm passages. Although the album was mastered in the much sought-after Tonteknik-Studio in Umeå, the regulary comparisons to Refused or early JR Ewing are less present, then genre bulks like Lack or Breach. Lights is an album designed for a cheerless winter, post-hardcore between aggression & depression

Trespassers William (Seattle, US) are the duo of Matt Brown and Anna-Lynne Williams. "Subliminally sublime and pragmatically perfect, you would have to possess an ashtray for a heart not to feel this coursing through your soul" (DSD Music Magazine). A new EP, The Natural Order of Things, is set to be released on Gizeh Records. They will make a church performance with special guests.
Glissando (Sheffield, UK) “have the kind of atmosphere that can captivate and relax in equal measure- never before has tranquillity sounded so urgent. While track lengths of over 10 minutes may fail to hold the attention of the ADHD sufferers among us, with patience it plays like a majestic dream. And it's one you'll never want to wake up from." NME
Operations (Chris Anderson) is a Manchester based conceptual music producer and sound artist. He performs and records with an array of analog synths and effects, reel-to-reel tape and casette players, and guitars. Followers of Tim Hecker, Slowdive, Fennesz, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Stephen O'Malley, Type and 12K Records will surely nod in approval.

A twelve track, 22 minute sound art project, that is quite a departure from usual Operations material, dipping into the realms of glitch and noise using broken keyboards, effects boxes and oscillators and digital editing.
Self-released and strictly limited to 30 copies for the whole world. Once it's sold out it sold out for good.

Hey there, just wondered if there was any musicians in the Lancaster/Morecambe area interested in doing a quirky little collaberation? with me Sazi Riot.
If there's anyone out there that thinks this might be fun, let me know :)
SUCKINIM BAENAIM / ACHZAVOTH SPLIT 7" Two crazy Israeli bands is the only way to describe this record. Suckinim Baenaim play insane, fast experimental punk. The only why to describe it is by saying it's similar to Rolo Tomassi, HORSE the band, Holy Molar etc - but they sound nothing like those bands. Achzavoth on the other hand... I've heard nothing like them before - fast, heavy, satan loving, fun.
DING DONG DEAD 'NIE WIEDER MORGEN' 10" When a band is named after an Orchid song you know they have the right influences already. Nine tracks of intense punk/..screamo/skramz - whatever you want to call it. All the lyrics are in German but they come with English explanations which is cool. This record is also out on Twin Toe Records, We Told You to Play Fast, Emuzah Records and Chunky the Rat Records.
