What exactly is "Stoner Punk Rock"?
Well, you've come to the right place. Sludge Hammer Records has the lock on Stoner Punk Rock, and we can tell you pretty unequivocally what it is. Stoner Punk Rock starts with equal parts: grinding guitars that cut like chainsaws; solid, in-your-face drums; huge, mind-numbing bass; and powerful, gritty/sweet vocals. Once you have the ingredients in place, they easily coalesce into a myriad of tunes that are sometimes doom-filled and sludgy (like Black Sabbath or Saint Vitus), sometimes fast and energetic (like Joan Jett or The Donnas), but always loud and heavy (like Blue Cheer or Grand Funk).
