Here’s what I am doing in brief:
I am participating in a group exhibition at quiet a large museum in Brno, the Czech Republic in late October. The exhibition is in cooperation with the Jindrich Chalupecky award for Czech artists under 35. It will be held at the Brno Housse of art and I am one of the 6 artists competeing for the prize. Here is what I need:
I need photos of individuals in front of 7-11’s holding in one had a Slurpee and in the other hand a note to the viewer. The note should say:
“Díky Pane Knedlíku”. You can also print a copy of the text in teh PICS folder on this site
This is Czech for “Thanks Mr. Knedlík” (the inventor of the slurpee).
OR you can print a copy of the text that appears in teh PICS folder on this site
•The note can be written in any color and on any paper you wish. It just needs to be readable in the photograph.
OR
you can simply print out the text in the PICS folder on this site.
•Ideally the person posing will look sincere and not be “making a funny face”. But this doesent means the model needs to be droll and without emotion. In a word (or 2) “be cool”. Smile, have fun but this is a serious project and if the models look like they are making fun of it then the piece will loose its potentancy.
•You can have any size and flavor of Slurpee you like. Go nuts.
•Bring your friends if can, the more the merrier. I am trying to amass as many photographs as possible from all over the United States.
These photos will be one element in a much larger installation dealing with the relationship between the United States and the Czech Republic and the connections between the two cultures.
Here is what I can offer:
The names of all models in the photographs will be thanked on a plaque at the exhibition and as well will be credited with helping with the installation in the catalog that will be published in conjunction with the exhibition. All contributors will be notified of any press regarding the work and the progress of the project.
