Slychosis is the progressive rock project formed by three musicians who played together for several years in cover bands throughout the Deep South.
Having grown tired of the club circuit, the trio decided to focus their energies on writing and recording original music melding the elements of prog, psychedelic, metal, and hard rock that they love. Thus, Slychosis came to fruition. Although the trio's original intentions were to collaborate as a recording project, they are interested in adding side players and performing live in prog rock venues, which are virtually nonexistent in their locale. In addition to group compositions, Slychosis also focuses on solo works on their debut cd: "Wild Night in Calcutta" is drummer, Todd Sears's monster piece with lots of Eastern influenced grooves using acoustic drums, Roland digital percussion, and psychedelic voiceovers; "Glass 1/2 Full" is a Gregg Johns classical guitar piece layered with mellotron textures; and "Space Bass" is James Walker's orchestration of 4, 5, 8 string, and fretless bass.
