   About smailandstephens
Paul & Dave have known each other for many years and had often talked about recording a series of duets together. Over the last two years they managed to sneak a few sessions in, and without any discussions started playing, and the result is the new cd "Red Boats & Blue Skies" (Available from December 1st 2007) "Lovely intuitive dialogue between the two players. Flying the flag for creative and melodic improvisation....very tasty! (John Etheridge) "A well crafted and enjoyable album - is it jazz? Who cares - it's great!" Juan Martin's new album Serenade is out today!!

This ground breaking record was recorded with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at their peak, in the setting of London's infamous Abbey road Studio.

The album includes classical and contemporary influences in a flamenco form.

Available here at Amazon and all good record stores, including HMV and Zavvi

Special discount price for the first 4 weeks of release!!

Purchase link below

This is the long awaited re-release of the 1984 album including the hit single "Love Theme From The Thorn Birds", classics such as the Romanza of Bacarisse and the Adagio from Aranjuez as well as popular pieces such as "Cavatina" and "Romeo And Juliet". There are also five bonus tracks of flamenco guitar. A stunning album of romantic guitar music with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Louis Clark, never before released on CD.

Juan's own note on Serenade:

Being a flamenco guitarist is a frenetic and exciting existence. This album is for me the antidote to that intense and complex activity. It soothes me to play these songs between concerts, airports and when one is alone in a hotel on the road. It helps to reawaken a gentler more peaceful interior that can become flattened in this sometimes soulless world. I hope some of this feel reaches you too.
Juan Martin

Enjoy :)

Hi Dave! Very glad you like my tracks - thanks for the comments! As you asked, I just listened to the two tracks from your album. I have to say that Theo & John are right! I found it to be sweet and relaxing, well recorded and beautifully played. I have always believed that music should be (in part anyway) a reflection of the environment surrounding the musicians/composers who are creating it - whether it be a theme, or simply a feeling. For me you have captured the beauty of the South-West countryside!! As the name of the album suggests, I guess this was your intention... Well done!
By the way, I love the drumming - who is it? (Only kidding!)
Lots of luck to you both.
