The music of the San Francisco based Small Change Romeos is as diverse as the city it comes out of. Although predominately Rock, the group prides itself on being a challenge to pigeonhole. Song writers Chris James and Mike Ruy backed by drummer Matt Berg, Bassist Robert Wright, and Keyboardist John Patterson, use influences such as americana, blues, pop, alternative rock, country, reggae and even jazz to get their musical message across. Sizzling with guitar work, vocal harmonies and groove to match, SCR not only continues to fire up audiences with an epic and energizing live show, but also with crafty, catchy and at times politically driven songs.
No more has the spirit of SCR been better expressed then on their latest studio release "Fools Gold." With the help of esteemed Bay Area players such as Dave Rude (Tesla), Phil Bennet, (Starship) and J Bowman (Michael Franti &Spearhead) the Romeos have captured their original and diversified sound by putting together a heart felt, socially conscious and commercially viable rock album.
The record was released in late 2007 by their co-owned independent label Loud American Records.
The Small Change Romeos have had their music featured in commercials seen on various cable stations like Comcast 11, 26 and CNN and have been broadcast on internet, satellite and local radio. They are also a featured act on the ongoing television show SF Sound. In 2005 an SCR song was chosen to be part of the SAUZA "LIVE ALL SUMMER" compilation CD that distributed 40,000 copies nationwide. Bush’sLastDay.com recently added the Romeos’ “1.20.09” as the website's theme song, and through the winter of 2008 the group was SNOCAP's featured artist and download.
The band is currently seeking wide spread distribution, marketing, radio and tour support.
