We seek to identify the root causes – economic, political, and psychological – taking our planet in a disastrous direction that, individually, none of us would choose. We then search for exemplary entry points that are already breaking negative causal patterns and helping to generate new, more life-serving ones. Appreciating that we humans are social mimics, the Small Planet Institute seeks to spread the stories of these positive entry points and, just as important, to disseminate a wider understanding of root causes. With a causal framework in mind, citizens no longer view their actions disparagingly as “mere drops in the bucket.” Once we’re able to see the “bucket,” we realize our drops are quite spectacular; the bucket is actually filling up.

About me:
Frances Moore Lappé and Anna Lappé founded the Small Planet Institute in 2001 to help define, articulate, and further an historic transition: a worldwide shift from the dominant, failing notion of democracy as a set of fixed institutions toward democracy understood as a way of life, a culture in which the values of inclusion, fairness and mutual accountability infuse all dimensions of public life. On every continent, people are creating such “living democracies” as they discover their power to remake societal rules and norms to serve their widely shared values. At the Institute we further this historic transition through collaborative public education efforts with colleagues worldwide and through our own books, articles, speeches, and other media.

Frankie, Congrats on being named one of Gourmet's Top 25 People who have changed food in America! YAY! they got it right! (I put it on my myspace blog, I was so excited! ;)
I've made this video to show you who I am and what I do. I call it an AMovie, an "About Me Movie". I hope you'll
like it.
It's only the 2nd video I've made with my lap-top so feel
free to comment me about it.
Dear, Small Planet Institute
I'm just passing by to drop you a note to thank you for graciously taking the time to listen to my songs.
I sincerely appreciate the gesture and I feel humble that you enjoyed my songs enough to add me to your community of friends.
After all, having people connected with my music is why I do this.
I hope you'll come by to say hello and let me know what's happening with you.
I will try to find the time in between my performances, guitarteaching and familylife to speak with you once in a while.
All my best, a merry christmas and a happy new year.
