Sounds Like
Vintage rock with jazz, funk, and psychedelic influences. Extended jams.
Sounds like jamjangleindiepopspace eclipsed with creative songwriting.
Small Reactions attempt to merge a vintage rock sound with a modern approach and style. Influences in rock, jazz and alternative country all permeate the music, each finding its way into the ever evolving sound. As fans of everything from The Dead, the Who, and Miles Davis, all the way to Television, Phish, and Yo la Tengo, the band seeks to combine such diverse influences to mold their sound. Truly, the music is as diverse and varied as its influences. Centered on a strong sense of melody and rhythm, and with each instrument complimenting one another, the songs are always a collaborative effort both on stage and on record.
Comprised of Clinton Callahan (bass/vocals), Scotty Hoffman (guitar/vocals), Sam Jacobsen (piano/vocals), and Sean Zearfoss (drums), the band has been building a following with an energetic and memorable live show. Always in the moment, they seek to find a balance between tight composed structures and extended, improvised jams. Catchy melodies, longs winding jams, and a hint of experimentalism are all there, and always piece together to create something worth watching. Setlists, like the songs themselves, are always different, helping to make each show unique and interesting. Come hang out sometime. You won’t be disappointed!

Next local show on Friday, July 11th @ Three Bears Cafe. Hope to see you there!!
Hey guys - sorry to be totally using your space for our own soapbox - but Poiema is looking for new members. If anyone reading this is interested, message us! :)
Hey guys! Just throwin' a howdy your way...hmmm, I apologize for the lameness of that statement. Hope things are going well, it was so good to hang out with you, Sean the other day! Hope ya'll like the designs, let me know what you're thinkin'!
1. You guys should play at Cool Beans again sometime soon. I admit, I haven't yet been to one of your performances there, but I have been beginning to love that place more and more and it'd be just yeah...awesome.
2. I believe I remember something about you guys one time playing a cover of the Doors' Soul Kitchen??
So fun fact- I put Savannah as my profile song and all my friends up here keep coming to me to ask who you guys are and that they love the song, oooooh yeah! Michigan fan base!!!
Designs coming very soon boys, now that the art show is over.
So I've got some sketches for stickers and/or (that's right, I did the and slash or!) t-shirts. I'll be getting them to you soon, as soon as I can find some time to plant them on adobe illustrator. Hope all is well in the jammin' world. Good luck at your show that's commin' up! I wish I could be there!
Totally understand about the recording - we wanted to record in Poiema, and it was so hard getting the time, and the funds together to do something we would really be proud of... hey, all in time. Just enjoy yourselves - we'll keep enjoying what we hear!
Thanks for the kind words... I'm actually thinking of making this an actual band as opposed to just me in the studio. We'll see, God willing and all... excited to see you guys soon. (ps - how's that recording coming along?)
Yeah... we really liked the warehouse, it was just one of those nights... prolly our worst show ever, so im glad you guys were not there! It was embarrassing... not many people watched, and every piece of equipment that could mess up, did... lol... but im sure it will be better when we play with you guys there... maybe more people will be into our style of music...
