My Life through the years-----
We will start with my Father and a man named Jack Northrop and a few others who had been apart of this business, they went out and located a thirty-acre site near the Hawthorne Airport, in California in 1939 in south-central Los Angeles County, They called this business Northrop Aircraft Company. My father was a great man. Now, my Mom was a model in Hollywood in the 1930’s and lived with the Jolson’s because her parents had died when she was 13. Al Jolson was a very famous Entertainer and his wife Ruby Keeler was a great dancer on Broadway, they both help my mom get through some troubled times. My parents had loved me very much. I will miss them very much. So that’s enough about my parents, this was to be about me not them. Now let’s go to my life. When I was 5 years old I started to skate at Rollerama Skating Rink in Gardena, California. My parents enjoyed dropping me off, it would be like having a baby sitter back in those days. It gave them a lot of time to travel the world. I skated 6 days a week and was taken care of by the owners of the rink, who became like my parents after a while. I took lesson 3 days a week and became quite good after a while. As the time went by I took up the Trumpet and played in a couple of bands in the area, I enjoyed playing the Trumpet very much. As time move on in my life, I had won many metals with Sharon my partner who was one of the original Mouseketeers and I became known through out California by the time I was 18. In 1966 my girl friend that I had in school was killed by a Drunk driver, it was a very tough lost for me; it took a long time for me to move on with my life. I decided I wanted more for my life, so I made sure I went to school and got my Degrees and had join the service to serve my country. I became an aide to General Miller while in the service. It was a honor to work with such an honored man. Before, I got out of the service, I decided to become a Professional Skating Teacher. My first teaching job was in San Rafael, CA. it was great and I thought I would want to do this the rest of my life. So after getting out of the Service I moved back to Los Angeles and started teaching in Bellflower, California, but as years went by I decide I need more in my life and as one of the youngest owners of a Skating Rink it was most exciting and I was kept quiet busy with the business. We now come to one of my first major illness in my life. I believe it was from my long time skating, that had brought this injury on. I was paralyzed from the waist down and could not walk. Of course, I was not going to except this so I had surgery and it made me very depressed, because they said I might not be able to walk again after the surgery, but I did not give up on myself, and it took me about a year to decide, I was not going to live in a wheel chair. I think god was with me and I am very thankful today that I can walk and even skate a little. This happened in 1974 and I kept going to school and It took me 9 years to get my Degrees and I am very proud of myself for doing that. In 1976 I left Los Angeles and moved to San Diego, CA. and went to work for a Car Rental Company. In about a year of learning the business, I started my own company called Discount Rent a Car. I promoted the heck out of it, and I was very successful in it. I had got a lot of the business from the San Diego Chargers Football team; I also had the Padres Baseball team and San Diego Soccer team and most of the Broadway Shows that came into San Diego. It was great, the best part, I got a lot of free tickets to the shows and games. I have made a lot of good friend over the years and feel blessed to know each one as a friend, like the Managers of the Different Professional teams and actors of movie and Broadway, it has made me very thankful for the friends I have gotten. Well it looks like every 20 years I have another challenge in my life and, on December 5, 1994, I was diagnosed with a Brain tumor. I have had 6 Brain surgeries and I am very thankful again to god. The Doctors were able to get the entire tumor after all the surgeries. So in 1997, I sold my car rental company's and I went to work for someone else Roger Penske, of Penske Automotive Co. We own 300 or so car Dealerships in the USA and 90 stores in Europe and 90 stores South America. I handle the western region for Penske Automotive Group and I over see 30 car Dealerships for collections and all the court work that goes with it. That brings us up to today. My life tells you this, never give up on your dreams and too always get an education as a back up. I wish nothing more then your honesty and friendship
