SmartNews is a free community newspaper, locally owned and published. Its mission is to provide a well-balanced package of local, state, national and world news; a platform for readers to submit their own information and ideas; and a vehicle for affordable advertising for businesses and merchants. It was founded in 2007, making Fayetteville home to both the oldest and one of the newest newspapers in North Carolina.
SmartNews is published Fridays except major holidays. It was published four days a week during its first four months, and there are plans to restore SmartNews to the list of free daily newspapers in the near future.
Fresh copies are available on news racks and at counter locations by late morning throughout Cumberland County.
