People who do their own thing and are true to themselves. |
Standards compliant web development from garage bands to multinational e-commerce; usability & accessibility. Apache, PHP, Perl, XML; MySQL, PostgreSQL; JavaScript & AJAX, DHTML & DOM scripting; modern XHTML & CSS expertise.
Public & media relations, customer/audience memetics, and overall organizational communications strategy consulting. Over a decade of experience in online and offline press relations and target-market messaging.
I'm some weird-ass mixture of nerd, P.R. maven, pool player, civil liberties spokesthing, scholar, barfly, curmudgeon, soundingboard, extroverted introvert (and vice-versa), scientist and artist, driven and lazy, gregariously shy and shly gregarious. Some will tell you I'm the sweetest person they know, and a few will say I'm an asshole (oh well! I've never been able to figure those few out. Not my problem).
I lived for almost a decade in San Francisco, but moved to Toronto, Ontario in Feb. 2005, and am presently in Albuquerque, New Mexico (again), as of Sep. 2006.
Professionally, I am a web developer, running my own consultancy, and the Chief Communications Officer and Webmaster of the CryptoRights Foundation. Previously, I worked with the business development firm Integrity Incorporated, and before that for about 9 years with the Electronic Frontier Foundation. I specialize in helping sites get out of the "Browser Wars" by redesigning with strict adherence to Internet standards so that the sites work in all modern browsers and are easy to maintain and update. I've handled projects ranging from small garage band sites to serious multi-domain e-commerce sites built from the ground up on Perl, XML, PHP, and SQL, with multiple user levels, content management, and on-the-fly downloadable document generation. [GEEK! Yep.]
Avocationally, I sometimes go to industro-fetish-goth kinds of clubs (quite rarely these days), play local competitive pool, dabble in darts, and so forth and things. I hang out most frequently at the Dragon Horn Tavern in the NE of Albuquerque. I like movies.
I am a big fan of public transit, but the bus system in Albuquerque sucks bootay, so I am driving again. I am not a morning person. An intellectual but not a snob. Oh, and I'm very silly most of the time. Sometimes it also refers to itself in the first person singular neuter, as if it were an alien space god. Also, it has a BEEG fat, whiny kitty, who eats pistachios, hot peppers and alfalfa sprouts for some reason.
My Myers-Briggs (MBTI) personality type is mostly INTP, but I'm on the cusp between INTP (informative engineers, designers, architects), ENTP (directive engineers, inventors, setters of new standards), INFP (informative mediators, tutors, monastics), and ENFP (directive mediators, advocates, heralds). This is rather curious since at least 3 of these 4 personality types are found in 1-3% or less of the general population! Mostly I'm INTP, though.

This must be the "this is really just a personals site" section. Fine, then. Here we go: For dating or dating possibilities: Update (Sep. 28, 2009): I'm up for whatever, really. Surprise me! Preferentially looking for someone 30-40-ish. For just-friend stuff (whatever your gender): Anyone's fine by me really. I have all sorts of friends, and the more the merrier! This does not however mean I will grant random "friend" requests on MySpace or other such sites, from people I don't know at all. If we strike up a nice e-chat over a goodly period of time and get to know each other online, then "friend" me. Business networking: MySpace (like Facebook and Friendster and Tribe and other glorified e-personals) is not suited for that at all. Look me up on LinkedIn and/or Ryze instead (and eCademy and AlwaysOn if you really want to try them, but I find LinkedIn and to a lesser extent Ryze to pretty much have the business networking market in N. Am. sewn up at this point). |
