Smentek & Mullen are a duo from Chicago whose subtle but distinct hybrid of rock, country and blues is breaking new ground in the music scene. Graduates from the music department of Columbia College Chicago, Smentek & Mullen deliver a dynamic performance that leaves their fans wanting more.
Steve Smentek (lead vocals / rhythm guitar) captivates audiences with his strong but steady bass voice not typically heard in today's music. Matt Mullen (lead guitar) provides the harmonic underbelly to Smentek's vocals by drawing upon the influences of Kenny Burrell, Albert King and Andy Summers. Similar to the Beatles, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and Johnny Cash, the music of Smentek & Mullen maintains its artistic integrity while being accessible to a variety of listeners.

There's just something about S+M that rubs me the right way. It's hard to explain. Maybe it's because it pushes the limits. Maybe it's because it makes me a bit scared, I'm not sure where it's going, but in the end everything gets tied up just right. It's hard to say. Even the cat likes it.
