For those who thought the only music coming out of the Caribbean was reggae and calypso, allow me introduce you to Hip Hop’s newest super producers Jevon “Smiff” Manchester & Stephen “Cash” Claxton. Once rappers these producers are now poised to show the world of music that the Caribbean is more than palm trees and beaches. Although this story may sound like overnight success, in actuality Smiff & Cash endured a long and challenging journey. .. ..Coming from a small Caribbean island called St. Kitts with a population of just over 35,000 the last thing people expected of the two childhood friends turned record producers was a career in the music industry. However, this is exactly what they have done with the help of Grammy award winning hip hop artist Killer Mike. Killer recruited the team after getting hold of a demo disc the duo had mailed to Purple Ribbon Records just two months prior. Within months Smiff & Cash relocated to Atlanta and began working on Killer’s now critically acclaimed underground album “I Pledge Allegiance to The Grind” on which they produced the highly controversial street hit “That’s Life”, as well as other bangers such as “The Juggernaut”, “Promise I Will Not Lose” and "Deuces Wild." With the help of the masterful production displayed by the duo, the album went on to become one of the most highly rated and respected independent rap albums of 2006, receiving an XL rating in XXL magazine, 4.5 out of 5 in Ozone Magazine and 4 out of 5 in GRIP Magazine. .. ..They then went on to produce “Blam Blam” with Killer Mike and Grind Time Official on the Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Official Soundtrack, and were even featured on the intro and hook of the song. Upon the release of the soundtrack, Smiff and Cash became the first producers from their country to produce a song on a major movie soundtrack and thus made entertainment history in the West Indies. .. ..In addition to creating music, the team went on to form their own production company, Heatwave Productions, LLC in 2006. If you think by producers we mean simply beat makers, the team is quick to inform people that in addition to crafting music they are also exceptional song writers. The team produces a wide range of music including hip hop, R&B and dancehall. During their short time in the industry the duo has already worked with established artists such as Sleepy Brown, Pimp C of UGK, Trae, Sean Paul of The Young Bloodz, Khujo and Bigg Gipp of Goodie Mob and of course Killer Mike. They have currently begun working on Killer Mike’s highly anticipated sophomore album “16 In The Kitchen” coming in 2007. The very popular Florida based DJ Smallz also tapped the duo to do major work on his upcoming “Southern Smoke” album. It’s only a matter of time until Smiff & Cash establish a strong presence in the music industry and make their way into your headphones... .. .... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .......... .......... ..Search Google --> .. .. .. .... .. ...... .. ..Enter your search terms.. .... ..Submit search form.. .... .... .... .... .... .... .... ...... .. .. ..
