RALEIGH NEWS and OBSERVER (May 2006)
"Pianist Gary Brunotte's fourth CD, recalls the delicate, harmonically spellbinding touch of the Bill Evans Trio" ...
"Brunotte's "Blue-Point Blues" is the most dapper example of jazz-rock you're likely to hear anywhere." ...
JAZZTIMES (June 2006)
"Any jazz person will appreciate Brunotte's crisp, tasteful, witty, lyrical elaborations upon his original themes" ...
"Brunotte's two versions (of 'Smile') here include a rapt, husky vocal by Kirsten Lambert and an airy samba. Brunotte understands sambas like he understands cats." ...
ALLABOUTJAZZ.COM (February 2006)
"From the blues of Seal-Point Strut to the quaint bossa mood of Triste,
the session rises and falls with emotions bared and passion revealed. " ...
"This recommended piano trio album waltzes generously to a balladeers tune, bringing bassist Steve Haines and drummer Bill Berg alongside Brunotte for an excursion into the land where heart and soul take control." ...
JAZZREVIEW.COM (March 2006)
"its a solid straight-ahead effort by an accomplished group of musicians. " ...
clips from the reviews of YESTEDAYS DREAM ...
JAZZTIMES (1993)
"Brunotte is a crisp, indeed, intelligent player whose charts sizzle and yet leave plenty of space for inspired soloing... - tres musical!"
BILLBOARD (1993)
"Minneapolis-based pianist/composer Brunotte dishes up a solid contemporary jazz set (with traditional overtones) . . . .
Highlights of an enjoyable outing include the strong swinging 'A la Horace'; the hard-hitting 'Recollections'; the cool, uptempo 'Slightly Blued'; and the funky 'Caterpillar Crossing."
ALL MUSIC REVIEW (1993)
"The most interesting aspect to this fine straightahead set (which occasionally utilizes Latin rhythms) is that it gives Eric Marienthal (best-known for his association with Chick Corea 's Elektric Band) a very rare opportunity to shot off his bop chops. Altoist Marienthal is equally effective on soprano and flute during the two standards and nine Brunotte originals. Brunotte keeps up with Marienthal, his keyboard work is colorful."
(marketing speak about 'SMILE')
Pianist/composer Gary Brunotte brings new life to the great jazz standards and dazzles with his original compositions, extending rather than just re-creating tradition. His latest CD Smile is in the intimate setting of a trio which is the perfect vehicle for Brunotte's sensitive touch on the keys. Bill Berg accompanies on drums and Steve Haines plays acoustic bass. Smile is Brunotte's most ambitious recording since his debut CD Yesterday's Dream with Eric Marienthal over a decade ago.

'Manic Moments' CD Release date is October 4th, so we set up this new site. Now we just need 1000 friends and 1,000,000 plays, plus a few sales and/or a gig at the Village Vanguard! Is that asking too much? Ciao!
Hey Gary, Hows that new CD (organ trio/quartet/septet)coming along. Are you teaming up with up to 7 organists? Is Tony Monaco one of them? This should be interesting! Anxiously awaiting. Best of Luck, Louis (:
Hi Gary, I just added SnoCap music selling to the MySpace. Pretty cool. Got 6 tunes up now. We'll have Peaceland Guitar Rings all over it pretty soon. For now, www.JamesMusserRing.com or Peaceland Music on eBay to check out our slides... Is Bill on your CD? Where do I get a copy if he is?
Hi Gary, thanks for the Add!!! Anyone who's a friend of Bill Berg, is definitely a friend of mine... say hi to Bill for me from James Musser... when is Bill gonna have a MySpace?
Happy Summer Days Gary! Thanks for the kind thoughts. We'd love to play in the Raleigh/Durham area...where do you suggest....(and do you happen to know of a good rhythm section that might also be available.....?!) hugs, andrea
Hey, Gary, just checking back...didn't want you to get BORED with me, either(!), so...just letting you know that I put up a bunch of tunes from the "other half" of my disc this morning...plus a vintage Chopin just for the hell of it...please enjoy
Hope things are going well for you...did you ever hear from Bill?
Anyway, stop by if you get a chance...and have a great weekend!!
Hi Gary, Thanks for the add. It seems like the more I hear your music, the more I want to hear. I think its because I hear all my favorite jazz piano artists in your style of playing. I especially love Meow Samba and Ditty for Kitty, both truely unique arrangements with articulate and lyrical solos. So glad to see your calender is booked up. Wishing you and your family a Joyous Holiday , your friend Louis
