"Smilex specialize in the ham-fisted art of blowing your eardrums to smithereens!"
Highvoltage.com
"Some rather dirty seedy scuzzy rock ‘n roll, like a mean nasty indie Motley Crue with carpet burn knee scars , a rash of urgent riffs, gruff vocals" Organ
"A band truly in their prime" Oxfordbands.com
"Ballsy stadium rock" Glasswerk.co.uk
"The show was well and truly stolen, smashed, and ripped into pieces, by the formidable Smilex" Oxford Mail
Smilex earnt their reputation as an exciting, daring rock 'n’ roll band, the hard way: through relentless, energetic, sheer punk rock live shows which have seen them tearing up stages supporting the likes of The Towers of London, The Damned and The 80's Matchbox B-Line Disaster. With three releases on Quickfix Recordings (who brought you Youthmovie Soundtrack Strategies’ debut & have had a hand in most Oxford bands’ ascents in the last five years) and split single with past tour-mates The Young Knives earning them keen support from Xfm, Drowned in Sound, Forward Russia & MC Lars (with whom they recently recorded a collaboration ‘Dead Horses’). Now Smilex unleash their debut, concept album ‘7’ on an unsuspecting world, produced by Ace (guitar hero for Skunk Anansie and producer for King Prawn, Fletcher, Multi Purpose Chemical and many more!) who couldn't resist laying down a storming guest solo himself! The band has never sounded so focussed, yet retain the explosive wild-side that has them turning heads on the toilet circuit.

Now that the total shambolicness of university is over...I am back to rape you all! I'm aiming to compensate for the 20 or so Smilex shows i've missed throught the gash times that is studying by bouncing at the front of as many as I can this summer. What's the deal with this Oxford Uni gig? Oh and if you ever need an acoustic opener...i'm also back doing my own music ;)...much love always xxx
SEVEN is incredibly proud to present a night of laughs and brilliant musicianship with ADRIAN EDMONDSON and THE BAD SHEPHERDS!
Saturday May 23rd
"The Bad Shepherds play punk songs on folk instruments. Not as a gag, but because we really like the noise. We think the songs are better than people remember. We love folk instruments. It works.
We do songs by The Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Stranglers The Jam, Sham 69, The Undertones, Talking Heads, Squeeze and others, even Kraftwerk! Alright, they're not all punk, but they come from roughly the same era.
We've mostly given the songs a kind of Celtic feel, and we've stuck in the odd reel and jig here and there. But occassionally we just thrash! I've always thought the excitement of a reel taking off is the nearest thing to the excitement of watching punk live in the 70's."
Tickets £15 advance from here: http://gigantic.com/gigantic/event_gce_11879a.html
