Art: drawing, watercolor, sculpture, music, theatre, stained glass; quilting, sewing, swimming, riding bikes, hiking, camping, reading and watching movies. Reading and watching movies are really the only things I actually DO, tho! I need a friend who will do the active stuff with me and I need money and TIME to do the art stuff!!! Oh, and I love SHOPPING!! How could I forget that? Again, tho, one needs money. So I dont actually DO a lot of that. It's pretty bad when GROCERY shopping is FUN! Hahaha! And animals! I love animals! Especially cats. I have 2, by the way.

 | | Music | I almost exclusively listen to my choir practice CDs. But in the summer, when we dont have choir, I listen to classical. Since i only listen to music in the car, I find it very soothing.
I like mostly Christian music because these songs reflect my real feelings. And theyre about something REAL. But I still enjoy secular music from the 50's to the 70's. My favorites used to be The Beatles and Rod Stewart. And my favorite all-time song was Roundabout by YES. Dont know why, tho. The words dont make any sense. I never understood any words anyway. I mostly went by the sound. I like Gospel, too, cuz it's LIVELY! Country music is my least favorite but I still find some of it worthy. | | Movies | Romantic comedies; romantic adventure; anything that makes me cry, in a good way. Everything has to be CLEAN tho. I dont like smut or foul language--been there, done that. It's dumb. | | Television | I love TV. i HATE TV!!! I'm a TV addict! But i dont WANT to be!!!
I like crime investigation type TV, but i think...do i want this stuff in my head when i go to bed???
I also like comedy, but usually those sitcoms are so moronic!
And I absolutely HATE commercials!!!! Cars, Banks, cellphones and food! AAARGH!!!
I dislike the reality shows, of COURSE!
And I cant stand those elimination shows. They emphasize the LOSER rather than the WINNER! That seems cruel.
I also dont like shows where everyone is sleeping with everyone else. I dont like the propagation of immorality.
And i HATE awards shows, where entertainers have to award each other! Oh, dont get me started!!!!! If i would watch ANY awards show anymore, it would only be The People's Choice Awards. And even then, i wonder HOW do they find out? I'VE never been asked anything!
So...what's left? NOTHING!
I HATE TV! | | Books | I like to read but if it gets too heavy then it takes me an eternity to finish. I always fall asleep when i read. So i read light detective type books. Usually with a cat involved.
Rita Mae Brown's Sneaky Pie Brown series. She also slips in a little history about the South. Yes, i DO like the Cat Who... books! And Carol Nelson Douglas' Midnight Louie series.
And Dianne Mott Davidson, the caterer series. Also crime investigation. I also like to read the Mitford series by Jan Karon and all the series by Robin Gunn Jones. I also like books by Dorothy Sayers, the Richard Jury series by Martha Grimes, and the alphabet series by Sue Grafton. Those last 3 authors are a little more challenging reading. i'm also getting interested in the author Jennifer Chiaverini who does the Elm Creek Quilts novels-since i am interested in quilting. It's not about crime, but about life. | | Heroes | well, one hero is Helen Keller. to learn to communicate against all odds...wow!
my other heroes are everyday people who are able to speak their mind without fear. i'm a big chicken when it comes to confrontation vis a vis. my kids are heroes, too. they survived ME as their mom! hahaha! seriously, tho, i have learned a lot FROM them. my mom is also a hero to me: now that i'm older, i realize the hardships she went thru in her life. how strong she is because of it. and my dad is a hero because he kills bugs for me! seriously, he has been a big helper to me. and my grandma rauch is a hero to me--she was my only friend when my parents divorced and i was too shy to make new friends. |

Got into the Photomask business, which is part of the Semiconductor industry. Been doing that ever since. Done almost everything within that field-at the opertor level, that is. Altho, I was a supervisor for a year. NOT FOR ME! I'm a technical planner now. I really enjoy that.
Got my AA in Liberal Arts at Leeward Community College in Hawaii. Once back on the Mainland, I went to school forever with nothing but credits to show for it. One of my big dreams is to get my 4 year degree...in ANYTHING!

Was a Girl Scout leader for a number of years. Was obsessed...I guess because I wanted to be a Girl Scout so bad when I was a kid.
Became a Christian (HALLELUJAH! WE REJOICE!) in 1991 and got obsessed with Jesus! and that's OKAY!!! hahaha!
Another big dream was to sing in a choir and after many years, was able to get up my courage to join the church choir. Was even in a small ensemble! I never thought that would EVER happen!!! I felt like a PIP (as in, Gladys Knight and the Pips). It's not that I'm a good singer, but i just LIKE to sing so much! and I LOVE harmony!!! So it's great that I am an alto.
Now my kids are grown (one is even married) and I had to get pets to make up for it! I have a need to nurture, I guess. I LOVED being a mom. Altho, being a SINGLE mom is pretty hard. It's better to have the other half in the family, too.
Pets: Started out with an Orange Tabby named Capn Rumbum Sugah Jack. He was the BEST! He was huge and he was soooo mellow! He didnt speak much. And he was such a well behaved cat. I loved him so much!!! At 1 year and 9 months, just after Christmas, he passed away. Cause unknown. The worst heartbreak I've ever known.
When Jack was about a year old, we got him a companion. She is an all black cat. We named her Charlee. When Jack passed away, we got a companion for Charlee right away because she is only 9 months old. And she loved to have her fun.
We got a grey and white tabby. His name...well...we call him a lot of things. I guess officially it is Sergei RachMEWninov, like the composer. But I favor ROCKY (like Rocky Balboa) and I also like Tommy Tuffy the Tuna-head. He's real feisty!!! And he has this look to his mouth that kind of looks gangster-ish. Like a tough boy! AND he has stinky tuna breath!! He's a riot! But Sergei has caused Charlee to become withdrawn. or maybe it was Jack's death that did it. Dont know, but Charlee is always hiding. Sergei gets all the attention.
Some of the other things i'd like to do in my life:
I'd like to learn-American Sign Language.
I'd like to lose enough weight to feel comfortable tap dancing and ballet dancing and hula dancing. (I dont know how to hula, really, but i'd like to learn.)
I'd also like to learn how to beat those Korean Drums. i think it's called Taiko Drums. Seems like you can get quite a workout and vent a lot of frustration.
I'd like to go on a fairly mild river rafting trip.
I'd like to travel across the northern US and on down the eastern coast.
I'd also like to see the western part of Canada and see Ireland, Scotland and Germany. I've been to Germany, Switzerland and Israel.
and lastly, I'd like to own my own home. But that's not necessarily the last thing I want to accomplish! hahaha!
