    Smiley Jonez was born Vernon to Nadine and Matthew, and raised in the city of brotherly love, Philadelphia. In fact, much of Smileys music reflects the citys venerable motto! In an exceptional dream on the night of February 5, 2003 his birthday Smiley learned to rap! Smiley says the dream was so vivid that as soon as I got up I wrote my first rhyme. Smiley was so wild about music and the creative process that he made a commitment in 2004 to study songwriting and learned about the essence of song. Using the technique of first creating a marvelous chorus and then writing lyrics, the songs just started flowing through me. During this time, numerous friends dubbed him Smiley because his smile always lights up a room most say he has the biggest smile on the planet! Smiley himself choose the last name Jonez, adding the z on the end to let everybody know they are getting more than just your average, run-of the-mill music artist. By 2010 Smiley recorded an impressive range of over 250 songs and hooks, covering many important, inspirational, and just plain fun topics! His rap style is a mixture of Tupac, DMX, and Bone Thugs, engaging all musical genres: rap, R&B, gangsta, spiritual, club, pop, and hip hop. Every song has an individual concept with terrific lyrics relating to the hooks. Some of his recent personal favorites include the inspirational Breathe No More and Goin Thru Hell, as well as the catchy Chickenwang. He loves when everyone can experience and share in the joy of his music! Smiley continues to be an influential singer and songwriter, developing his unique style and repertoire in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
