When Shadows of the Unseen met its demise in the summer of 2005, from its ashes, Smite the Righteous rose. They are a five piece melodic death metal band whose influences are as varied as its members, and whose message is as powerful as their abrasive music.

History:
Shadows of the Unseen began to record a 3 song demo with Oscar Gouveia in summer of 2005 when irreconcilable differences forced the band to part with their singer. While in the midst of looking for a permanent vocalist, Chris filled in on vocals for the recording, the band changed it's name from Shadows of the Unseen to Smite the Righteous, and it was at this point that they took a step in a whole new direction lyrically. To compliment this change, they also became far more aggressive musically. Pamela Helme joined the band after the recording process was complete, and she filled the vocalist spot for a short time, playing shows through most of 2006 before moving on.

Shortly after her departure, guitarist Ryan V. left as well. Several months passed without change, without practice, without shows, and things seemed bleak for the band's future.

As 2007 dawned, Jason Kilgore and Jon Botelho were welcomed into the fold to fill the guitarist and vocalist positions, and the band is now taking further steps toward musical aggression, adding some grind and death metal influence to their sound.

STR is currently revamping/rewriting/fine-tuning older songs, as well as writing some new material to be unleashed very soon. STR LIVE AT THE NEW WAVE CAFE THANKS TO JAKE MOSES FOR SHOOTING/EDITING THIS
