It all depends on what we're singing! From George Michael to Billie Holiday, Beyonce to Moby, or Frank Sinatra to The Talking Heads, our repertoire offers something for everyone!
The Smiffenpoofs (AKA "The Poofs") originated in 1936 after a group of Smithies attended a Yale picnic where the Whiffenpoofs performed. The Smithies were so impressed by the Whiffs' camaraderie and musicality that they decided to form the first women's collegiate a cappella group in the nation, modeling it after the Whiffs and adopting a similar name in their honor. Today, the Smiffenpoofs are affectionately called the "Poofs," and their repertoire has expanded to include old favorites and contemporary hits alike. The group maintains a rigorous rehearsal schedule that is augmented by numerous performances both on- and off-campus, and the current members are especially excited to be celebrating their 70th anniversary this year!
