   About Smitt E Smitty

Me am Smitt E. Smitty. Born and raised in Detroit. Moved to Boston in 1985. I've been playing drums since grammar school. Never took a lesson, just knew what to do the first time I sat down behind a kit. I was about 9 or 10 at the time. I played in a bunch of neighborhood bands growing up. I joined my first real band, a post-punk band named The Blind, while in art college in Detroit. The Blind turned into Zero Ambience which turned into L-seven and then I quit that group and joined Figures on a Beach. Figures on a Beach (new F.O.A.B. MySpace site) received some attention in the local Detroit music scene during the early to mid 80s. When we realized we had exhausted all our opportunities in the Motor City, we packed our bags and moved to Boston. FOAB got signed to Sire/Warner Records and released product until the early 90s. Figures on a Beach disbanded 1991 and I joined another Boston based band, Chainsuck. I played drums in Chainsuck until 1999. After leaving Chainsuck, Anthony Kaczynski, the ex-lead singer of Figures on a Beach asked me if I wanted to play music with him again in his new musical endeavor, Fireking. I immediately said yes and continue to play with Anthony (guitars, vocals and keyboards) and our new bass player, Drew Morrison to this day. Smitt E. Smitty is the music I do on my own time (whenever I'm able to get to it.) Enjoy it and let me know your thoughts. Oh yeah, I'm also an illustrator and animator too.
