“With their intertwined harmonies, pulsing guitar and melodic keys, Smoke and Cinder touch their audiences with words and melody, in the true essence of modern troubadours”.
Drum Media July 2008
Smoke and Cinder is the musical combination of Lucas Hendriks (Guitar & vocals) and Gabriella Di Nallo (Keys & vocals). When formed in early 2008, an instant connection was made and since Smoke and Cinder have built a strong reputation for their live show, gained a loyal following, won a song competition their song ‘The Good Dr.’, released an EP, and worked with names such as John Holliday (from the band ‘Escape club’ who released ‘wild west’ which was a number 1 hit in the USA).
With a sound that has been described somewhere between Josh Pyke and Crowded House, Smoke and Cinder also shares similar veins to artist such as Elliott Smith, The Swell Season, Bob Evans & Iron and Wine. Although such parallels can be drawn, Smoke and Cinders uniqueness comes from their ability to infuse catchy pop melodies within alternate songs forms which don’t necessarily fit the cliché pop mold.
2009 is proving to be a busy year for Smoke and Cinder, with the introduction of a full time drummer Jeremy Plaisance, various gigs both locally and interstate with a permanent residency at the Excelsior Hotel in Glebe, and preparing to record an EP with acclaimed producer John Holliday (Atomic Kitten, Billie Piper, Boyzone, Kasey Chambers, Sting, Shaggy, Westlife).

The best one I think would be Saturday 8th of August in Katoomba. It's one of those nights where music will be a great mash up of styles. Skipping Girl Vinegar sound great and we are doing main support for their Katoomba show. Also, it will be a chance celebrate moving into my new house in Katoomba!
Ah, i'm pretty sure it's going to be one in alexandria. I'll be sure to let you know when its done :) Hope your music is going well for you's! Take care till then
