InfluencesHidden away in the hills of Sonoma County, California, the Smokehouse Gamblers emerged in January 2005, loaded with bass, drums and guitar. The band has released two independent albums. "BLOOD ON THE LADDER" was recorded at Grizzly Studios, Petaluma, Ca. in Spring 2006, engineered and mastered by Roger Tschann. The second track off the album "Whale Train" was selected for the movie "Touching Home" starring Ed Harris. The second album "Tales from the Seven Seas" was recorded in March of 2007. Tracking by Adam Selzer, and produced by Jeremy French at Type Foundry Studios in Portland, OR. Mastered at Prairie Sun Studios, Cotati, Ca. byTim Gennert. War Comes in Roses, the third album (yet to be released) was recorded in April 2008 at The Old School Studio in Caspar, CA. Mixed, produced and mastered by Calvin Turnbull (Cheryl Crow, Shelby Lynne, Traveling Wilburys), the album's layers offer masterful lyrics by Ted Baggett (vocals, guitar, keys) and juicy layering of crafty textures. From Tom Waits-like "Sandy Superstar" to the balladesque title track "War Comes in Roses" the band created many pictures for the mind and body. The first two albums are available at: cdBaby.com THE SMOKEHOUSE GAMBLERS' WHALE TRAIN APPEARS IN THIS ED HARRIS MOVIE "TOUCHING HOME."
