Smoke Ring Halo is the solo project of songwriter & musician, A. Woodland.
Born and raised in the suburbs of St. Louis, Missouri, Woodland's musical
beginning formed in elementary school when he took up the trumpet for the
school band. He quickly propelled himself to the top of his class section,
where he remained until his freshman year when he was sent to a private
school. At this time at the age of 15, Woodland abandoned his brass
orchestral roots and began songwriting for the rock genre.
After writing several hundred songs over the next few years, Woodland
teamed up with drummer S. Thomas and guitarist M. Stief to form the
group "Scavenger". Bassist B. Egan and guitarist S. Griffin were later added to
the line up. It was during this time that Woodland first applied his talents to the keyboards. The bands peak came in 1994 when Woodland found his
way into the infamous radio station, K-SHE95, and secured local airplay
for the groups track, "Top Notch". Woodland remained the lead vocalist
and front man for "Scavenger" until internal conflicts disbanded the group
in 1996.
Woodland retained the rights to "Scavenger" after the group disbanded, and took it upon himself to pick up the guitar. Previous musical knowledge made for a smooth transition, but soon after the accidental death of S. Thomas in the summer of 2001, it was decided a new start - under a new name was in appropriate order.
Woodland went on to produce several tracks under the new Smoke Ring
Halo persona and received outstanding reviews, including a spot in the
"Top 50 of 2003" by the popular MP3.com station Ricin Radio. Although
several tracks were cut, no CD was ever produced - and after the demise
of MP3.com and its support for independent artists - Woodland took a break
from the project to pursue other interests while another hosting solution presented itself.
But eventually Woodland is always called back to the musical path he started
down long ago. And the growing popularity of Myspace presented the perfect time to re-emerge. This time the focus is on the upcoming CD, aptly titled "Weapons You Choose To Use" and is scheduled for a Q4 2008 release.
What they're doing to those animals has got to be against the law! I do know that in the Northwestern part of the United States there are prairie dog researves. What on earth reason are they trying to exterminate these little animals?
