Amazing band. Everything we wanted for our party and more. It poured rain and we thought the party may be ruined, but the barons saved the day. They had the party dancing in the rain. We've already begun discussion about making the party an annual event and there is no question the smokestack barons will be part of that tradition. Roger and the guys couldn't be more nice or talented. You will be making a mistake if you don't hire them for your event.

Hats off to the hardest working guys in the "gig" business. They provided an excellent music experience at our event. The performance was spot on. They had managed to combine both the latest in music technology with shear raw talent vocally and instrumentally. This brought out a rich, vivid classic rock experience to all. They interacted very well with the audience, and became an integral part of the event itself. Numerous guests have requested their business card and music cd’s at and after the event. We certainly hope to use them again in the near future. When you need a live performance to simply work start to finish, choose "The Smokestack Barrons".

If have you ever walked into a nightclub, and been blown away by the band performing... it is likely The Smokestack Barons were playing that evening. The Smokestack Barrons ... currently a power duo with drummer/vocalist Rodger Mason and bassist/vocalist Taylor Mason make it hard to believe your only hearing a duo by utilizing cutting edge technology to reproduce classic album rock hits like Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb" ... The Beatles " A day in the life"... Elton John's "Levon" ... Billy Joel's "Goodnight Saigon" and Don Henley's "New York Minuet" just to mention a few. Mason's vocals tend to sound like the original artist from song to song. Mason has his own distinct vocal style but is some what of a vocal chameleon. His vocals tend to be of the smokey blues genre as well as rock tenor Paul Rogers of Bad Company fame. His son Taylor Mason seems to have this same gift, and it's hard to tell their voices apart and together, their harmonies are tight and forceful. The Smokestack Barons is a labor of love by veteran performer, recording engineer and stage technician Rodger Mason. See his on line resume' and hear some of his original material at roadie jobs dot ning forward slash profile forward slash mason Playing drums and singing lead & back up vocals for bands specializing in rock & blues to top forty dance, Rodger has performed in countless bands all over the US and the Caribbean. As a professional IA stage tech Rodger has set up shows for cooperate events and mega rock shows like Bruce Springsteen, Radiohead, The Rolling Stones and Lynard Skynard. Rodger has a rare combination of experience that puts this project above and beyond most duo/trios and even some full bands. As a vocalist Rodger has worked with such acts as 38 Special, Johnny Neel, The Outlaws and Three dog night. Rodger sang lead in Nashville based group "Granny White" with Van Morrison's sax man Jeff Coffin, Grammy award winning guitarist Richard Aspinwall and Maynard Ferguson's drummer Chris Brown. As a song writer Rodger has penned hundreds of songs and had cuts in Europe as well as in the states. Most recently The Outlaws cut "Trail of Tears" written by Rodger & Outlaws guitarist Chris Anderson as seen on youtube. We are doing album rock, top forty and some blues and plan to have hundreds of songs as well as some original material and a great light show to set the mood. If you would prefer a larger band, the Smokestacks have an arsenal of A list players from Nashville available to them for additional fee's. If you would like a band that "sounds like the record" for your event... you want The Smokestack Barrons!
BIO on Rodger Mason AKA Mason Rodgers as follows
Born in Baltimore, Md. Mason was playing in area clubs at age 12 with his step father, Peabody graduate Jerry Burns. Mason moved to Sareasota Fla in the late 70's and ended up working with some of the major talent in that region. In the mid eighties Mason was in a heavy metal band called "Armed Force" who won first place out of over 100 local bay area bands in the the 1985 Tampa bay battle of the bands. Mason later met Chris Anderson of the OUTLAWS fame and formed Chris Anderson and The Collision, where they opened up for major acts such as 38 Special and The Guess Who. By the early 90's Mason had relocated to Nashville Tn where he continues writing and playing with the likes of Chris Anderson (The Outlaws) Johnny Neel (Allman brothers) Richard Aspinwal (Garth Brooks) Jeff Coffin (Bella Fleck) Mason met Doug Jones through Johnny Neel in Nashville and the two partnerd up with Mason.Jones Publishing writing hundreds of songs together. One of their songs called "More than you'll ever know" is currently being released by Charles Walker, a popular R & B artist in Europe this year. Other artists featured on Mason's music are David Northrup, drummer and band leader for Travis Tritt... Randy Coleman, well respected session bassist for Johnny Neel among others and band leader for The Patsy Cline story at the Ryman... Rickey and Ronnie Godfrey who are both amazing singer song writers from Nashville. Mason is still living and writing in Nashville and will be producing a new CD by next fall. In April of 2007 Mason and Chris Andersn began collaborating on a new song called "Trail of Tears" for The Outlaws newest CD release "Once an Outlaw". What began as more of a play on words morphed into a work that has been called " The greatest new topical song since Roger McGuinn's Back From Rio in 1990", "Trail of Tears tells a story without seeing pictures.. it's just one of those songs, and they're very rare these days". It went from a song of love gone bad, to the true story of how our government raped and pillaged the Cherokee people, stealing their sacred land and systematically driving them from their homes at gun point some 3,000 miles across country, many never surviving the journey. Mason remembers how the aproach to writing those lyrics where so much more different than any song he'd ever written. Mason recalls, "We had to study the history in depth first, so we could grasp the story that made up one of the darkest chapters in american history". Trail of Tears is being hailed as An Outlaws instant classic, and can be heard here at www.OutlawsWorld.com or on youtube under Outlaws trail of tears. The song writing team of Mason Anderson also just recorded the remake of the great Lennon protest song, "Give Peace a Chance" and made it a rally cry for Presidencial Peace candidate Dr. Ron Paul. The song was played on 30 talk radio stations between talk show segments with Dr. Paul, featured on the "Bands for Ron Paul" compilation CD as well as the radio spot for the CD
