It all started when Roy invited Joe to come over and record some music at his home studio.
As Roy states, "We both love a variety of musical styles, but there was this certain sound and feel that just seemed to develop naturally the more we got together. Joe would start putting out these real bluesy vocals and I would come in on the guitar with a blend of folk, jazz, and blues that seemed to really click with what he was laying down. Or sometimes I had an arrangement idea for a song and Joe would fall right into the feel of it. We were both on the same wavelength, and it started to flow big time when we found these old black spirituals to adapt to what we were doing. At that point we knew we had an album in the making."
"One Kind Favor" was recorded over a weekend on Roy's portable recording studio, at the lake cabin. It's basically a live studio recording with very little editing, production or multi-tracking. It sounds a lot like it does when we play live, raw, energetic, and emotion filled. Most of all its just a whole lot of fun.
