Hi, my name is Smokey IX and I'm the mascot of the University of Tennessee Volunteers. I'm the nine and latest dog in the prestigious line of Bluetick Coonhound mascots first introduced by Rev. Bill Brooks in 1953. Upon Rev. Brooks' death in 1986, his wife Mildred continued the breeding operation and continued the role under 1994. Mrs. Brooks' brother Earl and sister-in-law Martha then took over the role and continue to provide the mascots today.
